Can someone tell me why isn't McConnell trying to punch when he is fourth man up in a pack??? Especially when we are in prime position front and square!!!!

He's good when he has got it but by christ he has to get some defensive action to his game.....

Wedgie how much did you enjoy typing the word "belting' when entering the title to this thread......

Didn't have to type it, Mozilla Firefox remembers things and I just typed in Pics of North.... and the rest popped up from the last time we played you!
Honest!

PS McConnell is very overrated IMHO, don't tell the Snouts I said that though!
In the battle of the ruckman I thought Clarke came 3rd or 4th after O'Hara (1st) and Kirk (2nd)

Fair enough given that Clarke only had 65 hitouts and 18 possessions to O'Hara's 10 hitouts and 8 possessions...

(although admittedly not all of his hitouts were effective)

Unlike when Clarke killed us when he last played for South he did NOTHING around the game today and O'Hara single handedly set up about 5 goals today (not counting taps out of the middle). But you're right maybe it was emphasised because the ball seemed to go straight to our centre/ruck/rover 90% of the time.

PS Ecky I'd take your word and admit I'm wrong any day of the week, I am absoluteley useless at analysing games and was very glad when Paul Horwood took over 3 or 4 years ago for http://www.rocketrooster.com as I'm just as likely to say a player is BOG when he gets 1 touch while saying another was crap who got 50 effective touches, its a skill I definately don't have so try not to pay out the journos (and stats men) too much.

Looking at it again he flying against "Forrest" so fair chance that contest is in our defensive 50 even more unforgivable that he isn't punching!!!

Can anyone recall what the result of that contest was.... Looks like it was a spilled marking and the ball became "loose"

All I will say is watch the video of the game, Wedgie, and then let me know if you still disagree.

and note: you can't use the stats in the paper tomorrow as evidence that the 65 figure is incorrect - they only record effective hitouts so naturally their total will be lower.

I don't think much happened out of that play but there were plenty of instances today when there was contests like that and 9 times out of 10 a North player would grab it, handpass it to a player in a better spot and a long kick would result. If the Bays player got it he was usually tackled.
Today was similar to our 2 losses when I thought we were 100pt worse team than Central and Eagles, North played like at least a 10 goal better team than the Bays today, and I was stoked as I didin't think the conditions suited us at all.

Looks like Wedgie has watched the video already and edited his post accordingly. LOL

As I said mate I don't need to see a video to know you're right and I'm wrong BUT I will be interested to view the Sunday Mail stats tomorrow.
IMHO I thought Clarke jumped too early so if he did tap it it went nowhere but when O'Hara or Wakelin tapped it it went straight down a North players throat.
I'm not being club biased either as I thought Kirky was great today but he did play most of his time up forward (I think?)

I won't argue with this point - although Clarke totally dominated the hitouts, we failed to make the most of this advantage - North still won the clearances.

I personally think that the hit outs should be an indication of who won the ruck duels, not if they were effective or not. That is, it is an indication of who won in that specific department - the rucks. But the Advertiser always seem to know what they are doing.

North should have won by 100 points in the wet which is really 150 points in the dry.

I cant beleive that North won so easy.

It must be a different **** now at the Bay as the preious one would have not let us win like tha todat.

Hey Wedgie, you weren't the only one. We had the pleasure of the company of injured reserves star ruckman Pumpa with us all day. Is 17, and tall, and was wearing his full "civilian" clothes when standing with us.

About 3 minutes into the half time break, the North "cheer squad" came over for a chat.

"HEY KIRKY, I've BEEN GIVING IT TO YOU ALL DAY, G'DAY MATE"

If it was Kirky, how he had showered, changed and came to the dug out in 3 minutes hadn't been considered.

We tried to tell him it wasn't Kirky, but he didn't believe us...
