Round 18 - Panthers v Norwood @ Noarlunga 2.10pm Sat 31 July

Split Round - week 2

The Redlegs after getting within 2 goals of the Bulldogs in round 17 will be hoping to kick a big score against the struggling Panthers.

The Panthers have shown that they can match most sides for a half, but if they don't play 4 quarters of decent footy against Norwood they will have little chance of securing a win.

I would expect Norwood to win by about 6 goals.

with the wheels well & truly off the south machine, i'd think norwood will be cementing both % & a top 3 berth...norwood by 6 or 7 goals at least

Me thinks a weather forecast would be a useful guide before predicting ANY outcomes ;)

Looks like Ron is on the front foot in regards to recruiting next year.

He was sitting next to my old man Saturday in the VFL clash between reigning back to back Premiers North Ballarat and Port Melbourne.

He said he was a hell of a nice bloke and Ron did declare he was over to have a look at ex Sandringham/Melbourne player Shane Valenti who is in his first year at Port.

Big chance to get him as Loyalty is not one of Shanes strong points.

Just hope he never seen anything he liked from the Roosters camp.

ron almost had him signed at the eagles during his time there so wouldnt surprise me if he continued that interest over with the panthers

Shane Valenti was also in Adelaide over the last summer period and was close to signing with North, Central or Sturt by all reports.

Ease off B&W, no one with the exception of NFC from Norwood has indicated we think South are easy pickings particularly at home!!!

I can assure you we regard the Panthers at home a VERY difficult task, and will be approaching this game with respect for our apponent

Cheers,

I dont know why but I think we are a chance against the redlegs. Against the eagles it was always going to be hard with Bock, Knights, Burton and I think another I cant remember. Stayed with them for 3 quarters. We should get a few players back off our long injury list. I think the club should be going through the whole of South and find players there. I cant beleive there are very few or little players with quality in the whole of the south. I make it a thorough process. I would get each club to send 4 of there best players to a training camp. get ronny to put them through their paces and cull till you get 30 players with the most potential up to the age of 28. Without knowing who is playing in local leagues of area I would be sure they would find some good players with potential to play at least reserves for South. I dont know the process at the moment but it sure isnt working. Bottom in all three grades. It is a disgrace that they have let this get this bad. They need to change their process of selecting players. I would only recruit 2 at most players from other regions probably CHB and CHF. Our midfield is pretty good just let down in defence and going forward. One day they will get their s_ _ _ together.

"I think the club should be going through the whole of South and find players there. I cant beleive there are very few or little players with quality in the whole of the south."

unfortunately the notion that South is littered with potential players falling out of the sky is perhaps not what it seems. Here are a few facts.
The auskick participation level in Souths zone is the lowest of any of the sanfl club zones. The next best is Centrals who have almost double the participants that South have.
In what is Souths city zone,The Southern FL, which is a very strong and well run league, has 15 teams. Of those 15 teams 7 are in the SAFC zone, the other 8 are zoned to West and Glenelg. There are 2 sides in the SFL that have won 3 games between them in the last 3 years and are regularly belted by 20 goals- they are in Souths zone......
The fact that the club has been quite outspoken in its opposition to the impending import rule is perhaps understandable.
