Round 19 - Norwood v North @ Norwood 2.10pm Sat 7th Aug

The Roosters will be keen to get a victory for their beleaguered coach, however coming up against Norwood, one of the in-form teams of the competition, North will have to significantly lift their workrate to be any chance of an unlikely upset win.

Norwood to win, at home, by about 6 goals.

north have a great record at norwood (cue spelly), however i can't see that record continuing this week, the norwood machine to keep rolling along & win running away by 6 or 7 goals & ive daniel healy more headaches

If finn is your real name then you should be copping it from all your mates not just those who support North.

Since 2004, North have won 5 at the Parade, Norwood 1. Mind you, Norwood had some very ordinary teams in that period and their only win was by 11 goals in 2008, when they made the finals.

Ordinary is an understatement.

I have fairly big concerns about this game, North are better than their current position on the ladder and I can’t see they are just going to play out the season without having at least one big game when it comes together. If Simon Phillips misses with injury that will hurt us.

Agreed, massive danger game for Norwood.

No they aren't.

But importantly North's wins have all been at night and Norwood's only win during that time was during the day. Just another of those quirks that I expect to continue this weekend.

As stated on other threads recently North have an incredible record at both Norwood and Alberton, shame they can't win at other grounds as often. In the last 25 years North have won 15 times at Norwood - 1986, 1987, 1988, 1989, 1990 (twice), 1992, 1999, 2000, 2001, 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007, 2009 - sure Norwood had some ordinary sides in the period around 2004, but in 1999 to 2001 North only won 12 games in three seasons, yet 3 were at Norwood. I can't figure out how it happens that way

Reckon you've missed a North win in 97 at the Parade to RIG.

Think they beat us twice that year mate, maybe I've got my years mixed up?

I think you have got your years mixed up. You killed us at Prospect on Easter Saturday. I reckon that you won by 65 points. Then we administered your first loss for the year at Footy Park as the early game before an AFL game. We won by 4 points, Rod Saunders played a fantastic game at full back and Sandford kicked 4 goals for us. During the day Mark Naley had stated on the ABC game of the day that Norwood would go through the year undefeated. His prediction was proven to be wrong within about 6 hours.

Then you killed us at Norwood in the second last game of the minor round. Jason Millar got 5 games for clocking Tim Davis. Davis was never the same player after that incident, but I did think that five games seemed aharsh penalty at the time. David played again the next week.

Ahh ok, there's the problem .. That's the game I was thinking of because I remember JM's king-hit, but for some reason I thought we'd lost that much .. Cheers mate

Those games pissed me off big time. We snaffled Jars and Smart but you snaffled the points TWICE!! You won the flag the next year while we trotted off into the wilderness. Bloody Crows.

 Your joking surely? I saw that incident and Millar was lucky to have got off so lightly. Play that vision side by side with the Steven Sims '91 GF punch and there is very little difference. Sims got 12 so Millar was very lucky not to have got more IMO. I agree with you re Davis not being the same player after that. Wasted talent.

I agree entirely that it was just about identical to Sims' punch on Simpson or for that matter Gowans punch on Schubert. I think Gowans penalty was about right for all 3 incidents, but that's just my opinion.
