STURT defied the odds against Port Adelaide in the 1966 and '76 grand finals and tomorrow it needs to conjure the same heroics to win.

Set to don a special commemorative guernsey honouring those who played in the 1926, '66 and '76 premierships, the men of 2006 will have no shortage of motivation.

"It's games like this it really dawns on you that you are playing for a club with a lot of pride and tradition," Double Blues full forward Brant Chambers said.

"We will be playing in front of a lot of club legends so it will be embarrassing if we do what we did last week again. That gives us something to play for, that's for sure."

What Chambers was referring to was his team's 90-point capitulation at Noarlunga on Saturday, when the Panthers crucially got the jump on Sturt with five goals inside the opening nine minutes.

"You can't say much about last week - we just didn't turn up to play. We really fell in a hole," Chambers, who still managed five goals, admitted.

"It's important this week that we rock up and have a crack and see where it takes us. If we get the basic processes right it will lead to a win."

Chambers, who has booted 38.15 for the season, is almost certain to have Port defender Corey AhChee as his shadow, something he will relish at Adelaide Oval.

"Even when we were playing in Darwin he used to play on me," Chambers said. "It's always a really hard day out against him, we've certainly had our fair share of tussles over the years."

At selection, STURT was boosted by the return of Damian Squire, Simon Feast and Tom Hurley. Greg Bentley, David May and Andrew Beveridge paid the price for the lacklustre performance against South on Saturday by being sent to the reserves.

PORT will blood 18-year-old Steve Summerton (175cm, 71kg) from North Haven while also recalling Chad Davis. Matthew Gates was relegated, while Adam Kingsley (soreness) could not be considered.

Port seem to be able to just keep that small arms length away. Sturt playing the better football however
