Just wondering what you all think about this, was out on Friday nite after the North Adelaide Gala Dinner at the Marble Bar and saw Damien Squire, this would have been about 2am i would say and he was absolutely smashed dancing around all over the place. Now i thought he was out with a neck injury that doctors have told him he cannot play for three weeks. Just wondering if you'd like to see one of your senior players who'd been ruled out through injury absolutely blind on a friday nite??? Just stirred some thoughts when i saw him!! Just wondering what everyone thinks cos i didnt really like seeing it....

Perhaps he knows something we don't, i.e. He could be about to announce his retirement.

They are normal blokes. They should be allowed to hit the piss like any1 else. Their only responsibility is to present themselves to training and games in the approriate state.

Thanks god you never saw Steven Sims out and about in the 80's and early 90's Rooster Chick. You would have cried!

I cried whenever Grenville wasn't out on the piss, he had no chance of a good game if he was sober!

From what I have read Jimmy it sounds very much like that is the case. I think he may have been drowning his sorrows when Rooster Chic saw him.
This year was apparently a bonus for Sturt from Squire, Feast convinced him to have one more season, or something along those lines. If this is the last we have seen of him I'd like to say thanks for a fantastic career. One of the greats of the game, a match winner in the true sense of the word, thoroughly deserving of that Magarey and the Premiership medallion he won.

And you should all thank that f*#kwit McDermott for allowing him to leave North!

Look at it this way, young kids look up to players like him and if they are out during the season to all hours drunk, what does that say to kids, that it's alright to party long hours and be drunk while playing a sport. Sure have a drink or two, all players do, but don't over do it. Plus if they are going to do that, do that kind of thing at home where people can't see it happen.

We've had plenty of discussions concerning what level SANFL players are considered role models in the community, and what levels of behaviour should or shouldn't be accepted, with opinion reasonably divided ... I'm inclined to agree with Dasher, perhaps if the bloke was on an AFL list and earning $100k plus a year then he would have greater limitations, but he's not. and should be able to lead his life no differently to any of us who post on here ... As for any kids that would see him out drinking and partying, legally they shouldn't be in clubs and pubs anyway to witness it!

He is one of the best players I've seen. If he had the ball you always knew it would hit a target. His record speaks for itself. As for the off-field stuff ... who cares?

Jar's stories would make much better reading than Ronnie's - which no doubt despite plenty of promise through the chapters always end's in tears at the conclusion! Now can you edit that seeing as your so creative with your own lines?

Every year 8 out of 9 coaches' bedtime stories provide some form of promise.... and all but one end with disappointment... eventually

How about...

Ronnie's stories would make much better reading than Jars' - which no doubt despite a minimal amount of promise through the chapters always ends in tears a few chapters before the conclusion!

Not bad - but Jar's book is not yet finished whereas Fullers collection of encyclopedia sized failures in GF's looks about done if you fail this year from what I can see!

Sorry forgot - "It's the year of the Eagle" isn't that the yearly catch cry? Would be true if the season finished before the first weekend in October though
