Knights, Vince, Bock, Skipworth and Shattock have qualified for the Eagles. I doubt we'll see Bock for the finals and Vince, Skipworth and Knights have all had injury problems, so wouldn't count on them.

And that formatting is giving me the sh1ts, don't ask me to correct it.

And don't point out the players I have said qualify for the finals from Sturt and West, I've included them anyway (well they could possibly play reserves finals, anyway)

Nice work.

Could you fill me in, in more detail, on what the rules actually are? Obviously the bare cut-off is 3; but what's the go with those asterisked players who have qualified with less than 3 games 'through reserves'? Obviously if you have to play in someone else's 2s because your SANFL team has the bye that week (e.g. Scott Welsh), your game should get counted towards the 3. But doesn't waiving the 3-game quota for a player who just doesn't get picked for the league side and plays a single reserves game (if that's the rule) encourage rorting, i.e. SANFL teams who know that their guy is only going to play one warm-up game and go straight back into the AFL side, will deliberately pick that player for the reserves as a fast-track to finals qualification?

And how about those who might not play the requisite number of games for the SANFL club because they're not fit (and so not playing for their AFL team either), e.g. Darren Pfeiffer? Will he potentially be sitting out at the end of the year even if fit and not picked by the Crows (which he won't be)?

And, while I'm barraging you with questions: any idea what the go is if the Crows win their first final and have a week off? Will eligible players be able to play in what will be the first week of the SANFL finals (4 teams involved)?

The three game rule includes the reserves matches the player has played.
I wouldn't think that a club would deliberately choose the player to play for the reserves, but stranger things of course happen, but I couldn't say if there are any rules to avoid that scenario.
I'm not sure about the players who are not fit, therefore can't play with their club.
And in reference to the bye should the Crows have one in the finals, I guess it is up to the Crows if those players play, if they have qualified.

I doubt the Crows will let any of their players play in the finals (if they are allowed to, im not sure of this ruling) incase they get injured.

I would say the Crows would have all of their players who are qualified playing in the first two weeks of the SANFL finals if possible so they are match fit and ready to step up (or down) to the Crows if need be. Will be interesting to see what happens with SANFL Preliminary (the same weekend as AFL GF) and Grand Finals though.

Would players like Porplyzia, Welsh and Jericho be allowed to play with West reserves in the finals if they are not in the Crows side and the Crows are still playing finals? I would imagine Adelaide would have a strong case to argue if they wanted their reserve players to be match fit for a premiership assault.

During the finals series, my guess is that the Clones would have to 'release' the player, i.e. indicate to the SANFL club that they were available for selection; you'd expect them to do this for any qualifying, fully-fit players outside of the group of 20-odd who were guaranteed selection for the following week's game. I would also guess that if you've qualified to play 1sts, you can play 2nds.

Definitely precedent for everyone being allowed to play in the SANFL Grannie. Aaron Keating, possibly the luckiest footballer ever born, collected 2 premiership medals within 8 days, in 1997; spending a fair bit of time on the pine in both matches.

PS Not my fault the 'make the quotes pretty' function seems to be broken.

Yes it is, you've got BBCode disabled in your profile, I've fixed your above post to avoid it happening in the future you'll need to change that setting in your profile.
