SA Brewing Continue Support for Footy for Gladstone Appeal

GOAL FEST YIELDS DOLLARS FOR GLADSTONE
SA Brewing, the SANFL’s major sponsor of over 50 years, has been tremendously generous
in their support of the Footy for Gladstone Appeal. Their latest donation came in the form of
a $50 per goal incentive for all goals kicked in Round 16 SANFL league matches.
With an average of 115 goals being scored in Rounds 1-15 this season, SA Brewing’s donation was
expected to approach the $6000 mark. It seems the players were intent on raising the bar last
weekend, treating fans to a goal fest of 142 goals resulting in a $7,100 donation.
SA Brewing’s Regional Director SA / NT, Mark Haysman said “we are pleased to have been able to
provide an incentive that has not only excited SANFL footy fans, but has also translated to funds to
benefit those affected by the Gladstone tragedy. As the major sponsor of the SANFL and part of the SA
footy family we have been delighted to have been in the position to support this worthy Appeal.”
The Footy for Gladstone Committee thanks SAB for its generous support of the Appeal, having already
donated:
• $11,600 through their 50 cents from every beer sold at two AFL matches
• SAB product for two functions in Gladstone
• SAB product for the Footy For Gladstone Luncheon to be held on Friday 28 July

I didn't know they held that incentive on the weekend, but it is ironic that Round 16 is the highest scoring round of the season so far - 142.78 (930). That is an average of 116.3 per team.

It was the highest scoring round since Round 22 2000, when 152.87 (999) was scored (124.9 avg.)

The 930 points beat the previous round 16 record since 1991 - 906 was scored in 1995.
