How far can the Bays go?

I hope this doesn't sound like a stupid question.
At the minute North are struggling for form again, Centrals and Eagles are both in awesome form though.
BUT the Bays are playing great footy at the moment, although I expected them to win today they obviously did it pretty comfortably in the end.
We all know the Bays can knock off any of the Top 5 on their day and if they catch a couple of the sides above them on an off day there's no reason they couldn't get throught at least a couple of weeks of the finals, just remember anything can happen on the day and the Bays have shown that Spring footy will suit them.

Man, have I got egg on my face after saying the Bays would win the wooden spoon in 2006!

Having seen a few of their games this year I think they're one of the most exciting sides around to watch when they're in attack mode.

How far can they go?

I honestly think they can finish anywhere between 3rd and 5th but who knows?
Definate finals prospects now, that's not an issue.

It is going to be a big match when Central plays Glenelg underlights in Round 21.

Glenelg is a real chance to get 30 goals next week, given that Sturt has conceded 19.20, 26.5, 23.14, 31.7 and 28.14 in the past 5 matches and Glenelg has scored 19.10, 28.12, 27.14 and 18.11 in the past 4 games. They'll need all the percentage they can get to stay ahead of Central in that aspect.

It appears there is likely to be three different battles now:

Eagles and North for top spot.
Central and Glenelg for 3rd spot.
Port and Norwood for 5th spot.

I still think it will be an Eagles v North Adelaide GF, but you never know on the day. Confidence is a wonderful thing and a confident team can be very difficult to defeat in finals.

Look, we are not even guaranted a finals spot yet. So I hope everyone associated with the playing side of the Glenelg football Club is concentrating wholly and solely on making the five in the first instance.

Mind you it would be ironic to play North in the GF again and beat them (not that I expect that will happen!!)

Agreed Adelaide Hawk I do concur the Eagles and North will finish top 2. In that order too and that will be confirmed next week when the Eags beat North in a tight one. My Prediction is Eagles, North, Central, Glenelg, Port. The GF will be Eagles v North. Geeeez could this finally be the Eags year.

Agreed, it'd be very ironic considering we've won our last two senior GFs against you and have you as our bitches at the minute.

Mate, I'll conceed you 1987, (1 out of four), but I wasn't referring to magoos premierships. As far as I'm concerned the only premiers in 81& 82 were Port and Norwood, our 2's flags do not count....

IMHO only mediocre clubs put in credence in 2's premierships... as I said my opinion only...

well on a dry day with the right mentality the boys are capable of matching it with any team, they showed they can at least match it with Centrals and the Eagles, North are the team that have had our measure. Only going on what WEDGIE has said with North struggling a tad it makes it very interesting.

It should be a North Eagles G/f. A few weeks back when centrals got a couple of wins together i thought that they may be back to there best, but i think they are a peg below the top two and then the bays then the rest, as PORT look gone, we appear to have both Norwood and Souths measure.

The game against Centrals underlights, may be the game that decides 3rd spot - a pity im in melbourne that weekend!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

At least this week the Bays will reclaim their bitch status against the Blues.

Central a peg or two below? Last time we played North, we won by 11 goals & we were even at the 20 minute mark of the last quarter against the Eagles a couple of weeks ago without a defence. No Quinno, no R. Cochrane & no Currie. We will see.....

I agree, I'd definately rate Central on the same level as North at the very least.
And considering North are Central's bitches it could be interesting (or worrying for me) come finals time.

Hey Wedgie, looking at the stats this morning, it appears that Josh put in a good one.

I agree, i have absolutely no idea when Port won their last reserves premierships, yet can list all the senior flags from the 60's onwards. I heard somewhere that Port's reserves are bottom at the moment, i had no idea about that, was a bit shocked, but wasn't overly concerned. I'm obviously concerned with the club's League side at the moment, but the Reserves side is not something i give a lot of thought to, apart from given thought to whether or not there is sufficient young guys coming through who will be competent league players in next few years.

I think it depends on the supporter, I know some passionate supporters out there that just about know where every team in their club has come in the last 50 years. I personally take a great interest in junior and reserves results as they all help make a club great.
I know there was a lot of Bays fans there last year on GF day and that game was very important to them.
I can also understand the more casual less passionate fans who just follow the league would probably be a majority.
Each to their own though and us all being different keeps things interesting! :D
