Apparrently the board knocked back a deal with pokies maker Aristocat, who would have staffed a pokies venue for club, that would have given the club around abouts $30 000 a month. I think that they could have made more themselves if they did it.

Yes, please save the Norwood Football Club. Not because I like them, because I hate them. The SANFL would never be the same without the greatest rivalry, Port Adelaide vs. Norwood.

It was more than a rumour, it was put to the Sturt members, I even remember being at Unley Oval rallying with the Sturt fans to stop it there and then.
Mark Aiston even showed me a prototype of the new merged guernsey, looked the american flag!

I was quite active around then in a group called Roosters Against Merger, organised a rally on a day it pissed down but luckily the Cricket Club were receptive to us (unlike the footy club of the day). Were interesting times, we were in the paper and on TV and the NAFC of the day tried everything possible to discredit to us, luckily except for a couple of the board members wives all the supporters were on our side.

It's really a great rivalry isn't it. I get excited when we play Norwood, because no matter the result, it's gonna be a great game of footy. There is great respect between the two clubs, that's why the rivalry is so great.

Rivalry is a beautiful thing.
