Round 20 - North v Norwood @ Prospect - 2:10pm Sat 20/8/11

The Roosters have won their last 3 games and they come up against a Norwood side not playing their best football at the moment.

If North's tall forwards convert their opportunities similar to how they did against Port, they are a genuine chance of an upset, however I'll select the Redlegs in a close one, by 2 goals.

This is a danger game for Norwood. As said before, the Legs aren't playing with a lot of purpose, making a high number of unforced errors, and if North play to anywhere near their potential, they could win this one, and quite comfortably.

Sounds a little silly to say this about a team outside of the top 5, but a win over North at Prospect could see Norwood in very good shape for the finals.

So ... hard to make a tip with any great conviction, but if North are allowed to maximise their efforts, they could win this one by 5-6 goals. If Norwood can recapture some of our mid-season form, the Legs will win. How's that for sitting on the fence?

Also, a Power recall for Stewart may help us a bit :)

On the back of 8 goals, one would think Daniel Stewart would get a recall to the Power perhaps?

Amazing to say this for a 6-10 team playing a 13-4 team, even more so when the 13-4 team has won both previous meetings between the clubs in the season, but on form you'd just about have to back the Roosters at home.

Stewart must be a definite chance of being selected for AFL duty, although going against this is the fact that he's struggled playing at the higher level this year. If the forecast is for fine weather next weekend, I think that could certainly help his chances of playing against the W Bulldogs on Sunday.

North by 3 goals. We're not playing well enough to win.

Sam Mayes, 3 games 3 wins should make him the first player selected at North this week.

Norwood HAVE struggled lately BUT keep winning & that's good footy! North to win 3 in a row? Dunno. Stewart to go out of the side, North would have got spanked by Port if not for him, so Norwood, if they can get the ball in quickly to score. This could be a draw.

Central, West and Port don't count as 3 in a row?
Did you wipe the Central game from your memory mate?

Like I said, North to win 4 in a row? Dunno.

I disagree with that assessment. Stewart struggled for the first 3 quarters even though he had four goals. I don't think any of them were from marks and a couple were being at the end of chains of handballs. His last quarter though was great, he really grabbed some strong marks and kicked beautifully.

taking someone from your side that kicked 8 goals will make a big difference. Also, 23 scoring shots to 29, Port's way tells me that Port lost due to 3 factors. Their poor kicking, North's excellent kicking & 1 player.

As someone who was at the game I can tell you there was a lot of other more telling factors in the final scoreline and why it wasn't more or less.
If you're going to make guesses from not seeing the game perhaps look at some of the other stats columns besides the 2 you've looked at.

A better side than Port would have beaten North yesterday - it took 3/4 for North to get it's act together and when it did we won the game. We have played much better football in long periods many games this year and lost so I will take yesterday's 2 points.

I am sure the coach and the players know that a much better 4 quarter effort will be required to go close to Norwood this week.

Norwood's smallish defence doesn't match up well on North's forward line especially if Stewart plays.

I'm praying for rain and the Legs in an upset, going on recent form.

The weather prediction is fine. If Stewart goes out I'd expect Mason to come in and start forward with an option to switch down back with Alleway. Boras also a chance.
