"Power" Ratings After Rd19

One of my favourite initiatives on Footysa last year (or the year before) were power ratings where teams weren't not only rated by their ladder position but by the form they were in, I think its a really good time to start it again this year.

My Power Ratings after Rd 19:

Eagles
Glenelg
South
North
Central
Port
Norwood
West
Sturt

Every week there has been an upset, which means this ladder (and any other form ladders) would be changing frequently. It really is a great season for the SANFL, this one.

West have the bye and they still have better form than us  :?

You can't lose against the bye...then again, you can't win either! :D

Nah, I just think Sturt have been shocking in the last couple of weeks where Westies weren't too bad against us and obviously didn't put a foot wrong against the bye.

Its funny though, I was canning the Norwood and Glenelg fans last week for trying to offput favouritism on each other but I'm going to do it myself, I think the Bays are favs running into next week.
I don't want to sound silly though, I've watched quite a bit of the Bays in recent weeks and think they are playing awesome footy where except for our game against Port we haven't played good footy for a long time.
To try and even up things I do think that North have a better team on paper too but the Bays usually beat us once a year and this might be it this week.
I love going to the Bay though, my fav oval so I'm looking forward to it.
I hope the 3000+ Bays fans that rocked up earlier in the year at the North v Glenelg game there rock up again to make another great atmosphere. There's no reason they shouldn't.

With the evenness of the comp there's no reason the Bays aren't a silly chance to give the flag a shake and I think if they don't do it this year they'll be waiting a while as Gibbs is the No 1 man in that side.

Ironic that earlier this year I picked the Bays take out the wooden spoon, shows how much I know about footy, ie nothing.

I'd be interested to see other's opinions on their power ratings too.

absolutely correct but thank god we are better than west and sit 2 games clear of them plus %

but going on recent weeks, we belong where we are in the power rankings.

Seriously, how are the Bays not top?

We have won the last five weeks (albeit against the bottom five teams) but we couldn't do more then that.

Eagles lost to South 2 weeks ago.

But we beat the top side on the W/E in North by over 50 pts.

Wrong Spelly. The four clear favourites won in both rounds 13 and 14, and probably in some previous rounds too.

Sorry, but you don't get many opportunities to tell Spelly he is wrong!

I don't believe most Glenelg supporters rank Gibbs as the "number 1 man" in our side. He has only received 3 votes in the player of the year voting on snoutslouts.org which puts him in equal 8th position, well behind Backwell who is on 20 votes.

couldnt agree more Ecky, Id rate Mouse, Macca, Forest. Moore, Mules & even Doublas ahead of him. No doubt Gibbs is the cream on top and adds that little bit of class but I reckon we can operate pretty well without him (which is a good sign for next year)

Plus Fisher and Logan when they come back...

You only have to look at the scores of the games Gibbs missed to know where they're coming from.
It doesn't suprise me that the snouts rate receivers getting the easy kicks out wide more then players like Gibbs.
NFI.

I claim 99% accuracy in my statements, just so it covers my backside* in case I'm wrong. :)

The games he missed also coincide with the games Douglas missed, I think our record with Douglas is that we only have lost two games when he has played, we were in front at Alberton before he went off with his injury....

he aint no receiver....

Agreed about Douglas being no receiver, my comment wasn't in relation to him. Agreed Douglas is a gun too.

Wedgie , the crowds that Glenelg pull on Saturday is significantly less than on a Sunday.

Hope I am wrong but a Saturday game against the crows on TV with North will get 3,000 to 3,200. Sunday would pull 4,500 plus.

Glenelg V Norwood on Saturday 2,800 with good weather
Glenelg V Sturt on Saturday 2,800 with good weather.

On the positive side the first sign of the bandwagon Glenelg supporters have arrived. Best away support for a while at the playground. Many unfamilar faces.
