great player who should have played more games at the afl level, when watching him play you always knew his kick would either hit a tit or be a goal as he had exceptional skill

Agreed, and its better to hit a tit or be a goal than to hit a goal or be a tit.
(Sorry, I'm in a very weird mood tonight)

The boy Squire could play and he is a top bloke too as I found out in my one year at Sturt in 1999.
Doing the Stats that year you knew if Squizz or Bruce had the ball it was one of two results a goal or a team-mate was going to get it lace out.

Very good player. Will go down in history as one of the best of the post-AFL era.
Should have played many more games for the Power than he did.

When we see Allan Didak do special things
for Collingwood we will be reminded of Squizzy.

What will he do now?
Domestic Violence Counsellor?
Policeman?
Parole Officer?
The boy couldd play on the field but he's played a few bad games off the field. Lets hope he keeps his head together and that the end of his footballing life isn't the end of him.

That post says more about you Squawk than it does about about Squiz.

What's happening?...I actually agree with 1980 Tassie Medalist! Squawk, that is a pretty low comment. No one is perfect and I think on reflection you might regret making those comments. Well done, Squizzy...one of the best Sturt players I have seen.

My comments about his future employment prospects were a bit of a cheap shot I admit.
However, I was genuine when I said that I was hoping his retirement wasn't a catalyst for going further astray. It is not uncommon for elite sports people to feel empty and become depressed when their career comes to an end and given his previous indiscretions one could be forgiven for thinking that he be may more vulnerable than others after retirement brings the curtain down.
Examples that spring to mind include Gary Ablett Snr, Gary Neiwand, David Granger.

One more thing for what its worth (probably nothing). My family has sponsored Sturt for many many years, and is a current sponsor of the club. I just happen to be a Norwood supporter.
I guess this thread was meant to say something about his footballing qualities not his personal qualities so apologies for introducing that aspect.

Seriously it was "tongue" in cheek (and amusing!) whether this was the right topic to bring it up on remains the only "sore" point BUT if people don't want things brought up on forums about footballers off field issues then maybe the footballers shouldn't do things that cause the publicity in the first place? We admire their football ability etc as champions but does that mean we have to close our eyes and pretend they are still great blokes when they get in trouble? Let's face the facts - what Squire has been in trouble for is not exactly trivial e.g. drink driving or lesser things like that. Do we all write to or ring up and complain when the 'Tiser reports on these players indiscretions?
Having said that - he was a champion footballer and it was a sad day whe that dickhead McDermott pushed him away from Prospect!

Unnecessary Squawk

Unnecessary and given one particular incident involving a teammate of Damians at the time last year, it would just about make anyone resort to "domestic violence"
