Better effort from South. Came out switched on, fell back into some bad habits during the 2nd term, but managed to play some pretty good footy after half time. Thought Sturt were fairly ordinary for most of the day, particularly their foot skills.
The much maligned Bobby Carlile was good in his return, a few of the mid fielders who had been down in recent weeks had plenty of it but didn't always use it as well as they could have (Stribling, Liddle, Cross, Daniel), while Ainger (4 goals) was the pick of the tall forwards with Rolfe (3) handy also.
Keeps the season afloat, with the help of North going down today. Wont surprise me if a lot of the guys who have played all year get a rest next week.

Only caught the last 15 minutes of the game live, but listened to most of the game on Life FM from work. Much better effort today, although still burned the ball much more than Sturt. Agreed that there may be some bigger names rested next week in Melbourne.
You'll never EVER hear me say this again, but a sincere THANKYOU to the umpire who awarded the free to Sturt infront of goals after the siren, reducing the margin from 40pts to 39pts. My online betting account now much healthier than it was looking!

Who would want to put money on either South or Sturt?
In the end South paid dividends to their loyal supporters and those game enough to put on their hard earned as well, I trust the collect for you all was substantial.
The late inclusion of 'Bobby' back into the side really was a blessing in disguise, his long kick ins were what we have been needing, bringing the midfielders into the game in a better position to get the ball into the forward half quickly, while his strong defensive work either marking or punching away repelled Sturt on many occasions.
Ainger continues to stand out at either CHF or FF and gives the team a positive focal point with his marking and dishing out to running players, I thought Wundke was at times lazy today with his attack on the ball and his kicking disposal was very much below his standards.
What more can be expected of Liddle, Stribling, Ottens, Daniel, Cross and Murphy around the ground, their work today was superb, Rolfe can play both tall and small and can sniff out the goal square like a drunk with free pints on offer.
McKernan needs to put in 3 or 4 performances like he did today if he has asperations of getting back into the Crows line up, Tarak had an even tussle all day with his opponent, while the rest of the team all chipped in with positive performances.
My stand out player today was Daniel Bass, his body strength in the ruck work enabled us to get to the ball first on many occasions, he is able to take strong contested marks at either end of the ground, his smothering and desperation at the ball has lifted other players determination at the ball and he is finding team mates with his disposals.
The big dissapointment as I saw it today, was the ammount of ball handling errors from both South and Sturt, many many times, players on both sides over run the ball, failed to pick it up clean and handballs put team mates under pressure.
I started to wonder if there was something wrong with the footy as even the umpires had trouble bouncing the ball straight.
For Sturt I thought Hinge(20), Kurtze(17) and Cubillo(7) gave their all while the rest were pretty average.

Very good effort, not for the 39pts but for yet another away win for us this season. Pity we cant seem to win at home though!
Carlisle was amongst our best today, cant see him being out of the Power side for very long,

Mine too. Just knew we weren't going to be able to match up on their talls.
What are they feeding them down there, freakin huge!!!
Enjoyed watching some live SANFL but sorry about the result, south too good and we missed thommo,, martin and sheedy.need some height desperately too.our kicking skills were ordinary and delivering too high to t Mac was dumb footy.
Oh well. Hope my next visit brings a win!

Carlisle? Are we talking about the fat guy in the back lines?
Seriously, I was embarrassed for South Adelaide that he was even on the park. He was a hugely fat, slow, hopeless player who looked completely uninterested in the game and watching him on the day, I can't even imagine how he ever got to play AFL ever.

A good win for South Adelaide... they walked goals home in the first 15 minutes, but then seemed to go missing for the next 30-40 minutes as Sturt lifted and got themselves back into the game. I actually thought we might edge South in the third and take a two goal lead into the last, which would have been enough to see us home. However, South wrestled hard that quarter and I thought did well to get a couple of goals late in the term to get a nice buffer. Amongst the Sturt guys I was with, we all thought that the 16 point lead would be too much for Sturt and so it proved...
The margin was probably a bit flattering to South, as I think there was a touch of "well no chance of winning now" creeping into the Sturt team as South got the first couple in the last quarter. That said, I think South showed some steely determination to come back in a game that looked like being stolen by the home side. For Sturt, I think its just another game where a quarter or two of poor play has cost the team dearly. I really don't know what Seamus can do, the teams has 6 x 1 goal forwards, there's no focal point, no one to dominate and cause trouble.
Sturt remain a good chance to win the spoon, which is a terrible shame.

No we didn't. He didn't play and I didn't name him as a best player either... if you're going to be a fat so-and-so on the pitch, at least look interested and try, Carlisle didn't. As a fan of Central, you should know more than anyone that effort can overcome fatness, just look at Buckets, kicked arse in big games despite his pie addiction.
