SARU coach tackle training at Port Magpies

Postby JamesH » Thu Jul 05, 2012 11:08 am

I found it interesting that an SANFL club would use Carl Jones (SARU operations manager and one of the very few Level 3 coaches in Adelaide) for tackle training

I play both codes and find the dynamics very different..... to the point that the defensive skills of the two codes can interefere with each other.

Text book rugby tackle is to go low around the tighs (especially against larger players) which runs the risk of 'legging'.

I presume Carl would be teaching how to maximise using your shoulder.... and preventing and offload
