Lucky we chose not to kick straight early to give Port some chance.
A good result on the back of a great weekend long celebration for all involved re the 71 / 72 40th anniversary Premiership / Champions of Australia gatherings.

Port can be eliminated Friday Night IF Glenelg d Norwood.
To get in Port need
- Norwood d Glenelg
and
- Port d West
and
- South d Glenelg
and
- Port d Sturt
and
- either Sturt d Eagles OR West d Eagles
That way Port & Glenelg (maybe Eagles) on 8 wins and Port's superior percentage gets them through.
A tough ask with a lot out of their hands.

Eagles can still make the top 5 after a year of disaster.
How embarassment for the SANFL in 2012...

Go Eagles...

PS.... Well Done Roosters today. You destroyed my tips for 2012.
Everytime I backed you, you lost.
Everytime I backed your opposition, you won.

Lewis Johnson is an exceptional player at this level
In my opinion the most talented player Ive seen play in the SANFL this season

He has got better as the season has progressed. Big bonus him being traded to the Crows.

Could have been much uglier had North been able to put their early dominance on the scoreboard. The game should have been over had half time.

Just watched the highlights of the game and saw that deliberate rushed behind paid against Slattery. What a terrible decision and no wonder the Port players were irate. How the hell do umpires get that type of decision so horribly wrong?

It was puzzling. I thought if the player was under any pressure at all, it was fine?
On the game itself Lewis Johnson was very good all day, he beat Slattery easily on the day. I was quite impressed with Clisby and Thiele. North moved the ball at speed and looked dangerous, and should get better with Allan to come back and Daniel Stewart should improve on yesterdays effort.
Not sure if it was an instruction from Francou to have Alleway come off the square at every chance and try and pick off Port players but he missed on every occassion.
Hard to find good players for Port yesterday. Hoskin was good early, thought Raikiwasa did a good job on Stewart and that was about it. Cockshell tried hard and did some good things in patches.

Yeah I just saw it thanks to the Recovery Session, you can only assume that umpire doesn't know the rules, an absolute shocker, he was virtually being tackled as he hand passed it through, surely that's under pressure!!!

Interestingly this is the rule as set out in the Laws. I have copied it from the appropriate area, so apologise for any formatting problems that may occur.
15.7 Free Kicks — DELIBERATE RUSHED BEHIND
15.7.1 When Awarded
A Free Kick shall be awarded against a Player from the defending Team
who intentionally Kicks, Handballs or forces the football over the attacking
Team’s Goal Line or Behind Line or onto one of the attacking Team’s Goal
Posts. In assessing whether a Free Kick should be awarded under this
Law, the field Umpire shall give the benefit of the doubt to the Defender.
15.7.2 Taking Free Kick
A Free Kick awarded under Law 15.7.1 shall be taken at the point where
the football crossed the Goal Line or Behind Line or from the relevant
Goal Post.
There is no mention of being "under pressure".
However, perhaps the SANFL also have a memorandum such as this one for the WAFL, but I couldn't find it:
When an Umpire is determining whether to award a free kick for a deliberate rushed behind
the considerations are:
What is the player's intention?
Is the player contesting the ball?
What is the degree of pressure the player is under?
Was there a team mate in the vicinity of where the ball crossed the scoring line?
For clarification:
Players who are contesting the ball in a marking contest or in general play may
punch or knock the ball away from their opponents to prevent them from gaining
possession of the football or from scoring. This will not be deemed to be deliberately
rushed.
Where a player is in possession of the football and is tackled near the scoring line, he
must dispose of or attempt to dispose of the ball in complying with the laws of the
game. A player will receive the benefit of the doubt in this situation.
So the umpire made an assessment that the player was not under enough pressure - the only possible conclusion. Whatever, it was a pretty ordinary decision.

Why on earth would port wear WHITE shorts at prospect?
