Both teams should be fresh coming off the bye. If the Eagles can limit the influence of Jeremy Clayton and Waterhouse, that will go a long way to beating the Magpies. Should be plenty of Power supporters jumping on the Magpies bandwagon now they have finished their season, so hopefully a big crowd at Woodville on Sunday. Will be interesting to see if the Crows pick McGregor or Stevens to replace Hentschel. May go some way in deciding the outcome of the game.

We need a real tough game before the finals, and this should be that game.
Eagles by about 3 goals. Always nice to beat Port.

For the Eagles:
INS: LOMAS, RUGOLO, HIER, FREWEN, FLOREANI
OUTS: INKSTER (Hamstring), KNIGHTS (Quad), SALTER (Hamstring)

Inkster is a big loss. Hope his hamstring isn't too bad. Great to see Lomas back into the team named in a forward pocket and Rugolo back from injury in the other pocket. Good luck to Hier if he plays. Will be his first league game. Him, Frewen and Floreani have been named on an extended interchange.

Oakley, Vince, Hall and Dabrowski have been named in the Reserves for their first games in a while.

I'm expecting a close game, but sadly, the Eagles to come out on top. :(

Inkster is a massive loss. Could he be out for the season? Or possibly the first game or two (depending where the Eagles finish the minor round, and how they go in their first final) of the finals?

Depends how bad the hammy is? Could be just resting as a precaution. He was not named on the injury list during the week.

Hmm that is interesting then isnt it. Did he do it at training late in the week? He could be resting though. You would be hoping its not like Burton's injury!

Top spot Passador's aim

ZAC MILBANK

September 01, 2006 12:15am
Article from: The Advertiser

IT WOULD be easy to think Woodville-West Torrens has little to play for against Port Adelaide on Sunday.
Already with the valuable finals double-chance in the bag, the Eagles could be in preservation mode given the major round is just a fortnight away. But injuries won't have as great an impact if Ron Fuller's men can stitch up the minor premiership, as they will also get a timely week off to rest their battle-weary bodies.

"We've just got to make sure we win the game on the weekend because top spot is so important," Eagles forward Mark Passador said. "You're always looking to freshen up before the finals. Finals are pretty demanding contests, so if you can get the week to freshen up it's definitely a big advantage."

Having Magarey Medallist Jeremy Clayton back to his scintillating best has been a big advantage for the Magpies, something the Eagles have noted. Whether Eagles captain Gavin Colville gets the job again - he quelled Clayton in their last meeting in round 15 - remains to be seen. Clayton has been dynamic up forward, booting 13 goals in the past three weeks.

Named in a forward pocket, "Jezza" could find Peter Fiacchi is his shadow.

Regardless, Passador - who is still leading the race for the Ken Farmer Medal - is almost certain who will be following him at Woodville Oval.

"Corey AhChee is a great defender and I'm going to have to be on my game to play well against him," Passador, who has kicked 68.38 in 2006, said. "He always sticks with you, he's very strong and a good spoiler. He's also quick and always manages to get an arm in there to fist the ball."

The Eagles included Brodie Lomas, for his first league game this season, Vinnie Rugolo, Zak Hier, Brent Frewen and Jon Floreani in its squad of 23. Tim Inkster (hamstring), Chris Knights (quad) and Nick Salter (hamstring) are out. Port elevated Dane Fitzgerald, Shayne Biacsi and Roc Harry to its list of 23, with Scott Stevens (Crows) the only omission.

Rugolo and Lomas are big ins and don't be surprised to see either McGregor or Vince called up late into team. I think with the week off going in fresh will help and I would hope to see an Eagles win by maybe around 6-7 goals.

Pretty nervous heading into this match. We have handed Centrals the minor premiership two years in a row (not to mention the flag); we are likely to give it to North as well.
