2nd Semi Final - Norwood v West @ AAMI (Sun 23/9 @ 3:10pm)

Postby Big Phil » Mon Sep 17, 2012 12:22 pm

Having not played for 23 days come Sunday, the Redlegs finally get to take to AAMI for their second semi final against West Adelaide. The Bloods ground out a defensive victory with a good second half against the Dogs, handing Central their first minor final defeat for 15 years. This will be an interesting contest with the side that attacks the most, likely to win.

I reckon the Legs would want to be in front at halftime, because you would expect the first half to be a bit of an arm wrestle (unless of course Norwood are rusty early and the Bloods can take advantage of it) .. Before it opens up a bit in the 2nd half.

West seem to be more attacking the longer the game goes, so if they're up early it will go a long way toward them winning I'd think.

The great unknown in this one is how Norwood will respond to not having played for a coupla weeks, I don't think anyone really knows the answer to that.

I'm not confident, but then I never am .. Have rated the Bloods all season and despite their improvement, I still think they have more up their sleeve.

NFI how this one will pan out.

You would actually think that West's players that have been rested the past couple will be better for yesterdays run and should be cherry ripe for next Sunday.

Agreed.

One of Wests concerns yesterday was whether they'd be overawed and have a slow start but that didn't pan out and they were competitiive from the first bounce.

This week Norwood will possibly start a bit rusty so West may get the jump on them...

Nothing like fresh legs ( excuse the pun ) and the sore spots gone. The rest will refresh the Legs and I think we will win a tough contest.
The Wesies talls worry me though so we need to have possession of the ball to counter this.

I believe the injured players now available will help get us over the line. I'm tipping the 'legs by 4 goals but respect the Bloods for their effort against Centrals. My only concern is the same as Jk, will those byes affect Norwood ? Go 'legs!

I always forget how the SANFL finals series works.

So whoever wins this game goes into the GF and whoever loses has another chance the week after against the winner of CD vs NA and the loser of that game is out, is that right?

I'm backing the winner by at least 1 point after a double overtime.
