Does the catering revenue get split between the other seven SANFL clubs?

Are the other 7 clubs doing anything towards the day?

Norwood use to host the Crows in a preseason game at The Parade, pretty sure they didn't give any of the takings to the other SANFL clubs. Neither should Westies for this game.

If other clubs whine about it maybe they should approach the Crows and Power (or AFL) about holding a preseason game at their oval and make some extra cash.

Brodlach wrote:Good point Suri.

I'm not sure there was ever likely to be any "whining" by other clubs about the financial arrangements, can't remember any in the past. The CDFC hosted Adelaide and Melbourne in one of these glorified trial games about four years ago, got (reportedly) around 6000.

I know some people elsewhere are disputing the 'official' figure of just under 8800 on the weekend and I'm not sure what those running the show would have hoped for as a reasonable crowd. That said, the extra catering turnover and a $50k make-over courtesy of the West Torrens council and the AFL would have put smiles on a few faces out Richmond way.

The City of West Torrens got back some of their investment of Richmond Oval through parking fines!

I have heard plenty of talk that this game should have been played at a country venue but surely having a strong, viable SANFL is more important. A country club would only use the money to poach more players from the city anyway ;)

Thanks to whoever for the upgraded post, benches and coaching boxes. The oval has looked good for years but it looked sensational on the TV yesterday. Could nearly be the best SANFL venue now.

Club should have, at $8 a can, made a decent profit from the day. Pay some more debt off and move forward.

Not sure why anyone would have a go at West about this ... good luck to them.

For as long as I have been on this site, I always considered you a dick head topsy. Now my opinion is confirmed.

Good on them, one of the few places you could have a game with cricket, baseball and circus tents normal occurances at other grounds. Not sure the 30000 metre goal posts help a hell of a lot unless you hire them out to Telstra though. An airplane might take them out!

Noones having a go at West, I think Topsy is just questioning why West were given the game and decent $ benefit that came with it, over other clubs?

Best of luck to West, I'm sure the handout would have been greatly appreciated and accepted by every club.

Perhaps they should have told the Saturday Summertime tenant this as this has seriously harmed another sport at finals time.

Was great to see a good crowd there, exactly what Week 1 and 2 of the SANFL finals could be like by playing a double header there.

No, neutral ground finals if I had my way

Clubs with cricket pitches or similar were not in the running - It was out of Noarlunga, Elizabeth and Richmond Oval

Lots of people got in without being counted - The gate were thrown open for a while when the line-ups became huge.

Around 11,000 people. The NOrth v West game under lights a few years back was around 7,000 and you could move around the outer. Yesterday you couldn't move - The 8,900 figure was considerably conservative

So your team makes finals, yet some other club reaps the benefit.

Good point TSG -

Maybe one side gets the gate and the other catering?

What do they get at the moment?
