Your Round 1 Side.

Postby whufc » Mon Mar 18, 2013 9:33 am

Thought we could try something different and have a topic not about, Port Power, AFL reserves and salary cap breaches.

What do you think your Round 1 side will be (Norths' round 2 side obviously)

For me i think the Dogs line up will look something like

F: Hill Hardy Callinan
HF: Williams Obst Dutschke
C: O'Hara Goodrem Castree
HB: Symes Collier Colqhourn
FB: Nash Sibenaler Waldhutter

R: Osborne, Thomas, Boyd

INT: Guilhaus, Meulendykes, Habel

Others around the mark- Haydon, Hewitt, Edmead, Reichart, Dunne, Orval, Prior, Vater, Templeton

Dont think will be fit- J.Schiller, Barmby, Jenner, Potter, S.Milne, Nason,

Habel on the bench? His form last year AND in the trials has been excellent!

Habel will be in the Round 1 side, he should play a League trial this week after 26 touches in 3/4's at Ressies level last week. Ben Nason probably wont be back until the weekend after the State game ( Dutchy will be disappointed he wont be able to press for State Squad selection again this year ;) ) and not sure that Callinan will have recovered from his knee injury in time for round 1.

I am still thinking about the first Norwood side for the year (Injuries and AFL players excluded in my team) will post later.

Meantime, agree with others that the team put up for Centrals is pretty formidable on paper, If fit I would have put Barmby first pick on the half back flank, this kid always in your top 3 whenever playing against NFC.

Cheers

Am I the only one that thinks the Dogs side looks ordinary?
Never even heard of a third of he side.
Compare it to the same side 5 years ago and it looks awful IMHO.
Or has the standard of the SANFL dropped so much that even though a side can compare horribly to a side of 5 years ago it can still be regarded as a strong side in 2013?
Even the side that got flogged in the first semi looked better on paper IMHO.
Mind you Norths side of that game looked a hell of a lot better than their side will look in Round 2 too.

yes, you are the only one.
I am happy that we have some new lads playing, some from interstate, some from the under age sides & the country. Young & enthusiastic &, even better, the opposition haven't seen them & don't know much about them.

It certainly doesnt have the look of a side that will, as Centrals sides have done recently, simply bully the opposition out of the game.

All three lines look to have a weakness compared to the strength they have boasted in the past.
If you want to go quickly, go alone.

If you want to go far, go together.

C: Macreadie Schmidt Beech
HB: Caire Ferguson Bricknell
B: Green Tippett Slattery
R: Nelson Tuck Silverlock
Inter: Laird R Anderson Birss

Others: Rankine, Homburg, A Anderson, Eagle, Bonney, Poynton, Schiller, Carter

Granted there are a few names that are new and not proven performers but the spine are all quality players and the forward line better than anything we fielded last year. If most of the new names step up to the required standard we should be OK.
We used to be good :-(

We have more sense than to speculate on pure bullshit.
Who the xxxx would know with so many new players and what the coaching panel would not even know at this stage.
It would be easier to speculate when life on Mars will be discovered.
