The war starts today

If you are passionate about the SANFL and if you want the competition to remain uncompromised without any Crows and Power reserves sides, then do something about it.

Cheer squads - make banners with anti-Crows messages.
Fans - hold up signs behind the goals "No Crows in SANFL", especially if you are at the ABC TV game. We all still remember those "Messages on hold" signs in Perth from years ago.

Talk, ring and email your club presidents. Let them know your membership dollars are at stake with this decision.
At the end of the day, clubs always put their own interests first. If they think they are going to lose members and fans by supporting the Crows' entry to the SANFL, they won't do it.

Ring up Cornesy and Rowey and vent your spleen on this issue.

But don't sit on your hands and do nothing .. and then b1tch about it next year when it's all gone to pot.

Don't forget to oppose also the efforts of the Power to turn the Magpies into an AFL reserves team by stealth - becoming "one club" administratively, then slowly moving players in.

Remember the Crows didn't mention wanting a reserves team in the SANFL before the Power raised it.
Then they said, "If they have one we want one too."

it would be more powerful if the clubs themselves displayed banners & signs at their respective ovals.

The SANFL clubs have 8 of the 9 votes, so there's the answer ...

I wouldn't be surprised if the commission had some avenue to over-rule any decision the clubs came up with mate

The commission has no powers in the matter of competition expansion.

A two-thirds majority is required or 6 of the 9 clubs. We all know where the Magpies' vote lies.

The Magpies don't get a vote ... it's the 8 other SANFL clubs plus the Country delegate (Rob Kerin)

The SA Football Commission manages and controls the affairs of the League, including its major financial investments and the appointment of committees.

It comprises seven non-executive members and the CEO. SA Football Commissioners are appointed for a three-year term by the ten League directors. The League directors comprise nine club representatives and a Community Football representative.

Currently, the SA Football Commissioners are Leigh Whicker (also the SANFL chief executive), John Olsen (Commission president), Jamie Coppins (vice-president), Phil Gallagher, David Shipway, Dion McCaffrie and Richard Allen

So the commissioners are elected by the league directors. My take on that, the commissioners could (?) over rule the directors decisions / recommendations.

Agree with Harry the Horse post, at the very least those who respect our comp, us, should be making our voices heard through lobying our clubs and the SANFL rather than sit passively by and watch our comp become irrelevant at the hands of those who couldn't care less. It's our compitition, we the people own it and only our vigilance can save it ...DO SOMETHING!!!!!

The clubs have the ultimate control ... they could always replace the commission members if they believe that they are not acting in the best interests of the SANFL but that wouldn't be necessary, would it? :D

I have just asked Kris Grant if I (and anyone else who wishes to tip some doe in) can put a sign up on the eastern mound at Elizabeth Oval for the entire season, it will say something along the lines of HANDS OFF OUR SANFL or AFL RESERVES FOR AFL COMPETITION. Does anyone have any ideas? He will let me know by the end of the week. This WILL be endorsed by The CDFC.
