Rnd 8: Port Magpies v North @ Alberton (Sun 26/5)

Postby Big Phil » Mon May 20, 2013 7:41 pm

The Magpies had a good start against the Bloods, dropping off after half time, while the Roosters are probably the form team of the competition right now, taking care of the Eagles.

They shit me, no way should SANFL games be played the day before a work day.
When I used to play I used to purposely play on a Sunday so I didn't miss a North game.
Now I have my son play on Sundays so the same doesn't happen except for shitpot programming like this.
Only good thing about this week's programming is my teams will beat Port two days in a row.
And no offence Phil but I don't give a **** as to how many games you can get to, I'm more concerned about a passionate fan of one of the clubs being there instead of an interested neutral.
End of Nathan Bassett rant.

Can see an absolute flogging coming up. Be very surprised if Port get within 10 goals of the Cocks.
Sorry Wedgie but I love the Sunday games, being involved with my local club means I struggle to get to Saturday games as do many others I know

From what I have seen from over here Port do ok early on and then fade after half time, suggesting there are some fitness issues, whilst North get stronger as the game goes on.

Unless Port are at least 10 goals up by half time, I can't see North losing this one

to be honest, while i think we will win, i doubt it will be by that big a margin. North rarely put sides away like that. as evidenced by our poor percentrage (compared to the other top of table sides) at the moment despite only losing one game by a point. we have had some good wins, but the other sides at the pointy end have handed out thrashings when against the lower ranked sides.

and im with Wedgie. piss off the sunday games. all it means is that ill drink twice as much this weekend, saturday at peake, sunday at alberton, and my liver and bank balance really dont need that.

Watching us storm home in the second half against Sturt and match it with the top side for most of the game last Friday suggests to me it isn't fitness.

Port's losing margin was the closest for the entire round.

Looking forward to giving it to D Stewart for the second time in 2 weeks!

Let me think about this one.

One team runs from defence, has attacking midfielders kicking towards a potent forward line with options. The other one is the Magpies.

Our game style leaves alot to be desired at the moment....I dont see how we can win employing the tactics we do. We also drop out of games for periods of time giving the opposition time to score.

I'm looking forward to this one, North SHOULD win comfortably but as all North supporters know, what North should do often comes unstuck. Love the atmosphere at Alberton when the Red & White takes over the outer, wish it was Saturday but oh well, this is just the start of a 3 week run of Sundays and a Monday public holiday

Good to see Gordon has got over his knock and will play .
Can't see Hill or Westhoff making the squad unless Stewart is called up ?

Hmm John Butcher going from calls to drop him to the Magpies Reserves to the Power is a big call but he is just as likely to grab 8-10 marks and kick 4 or 5 goals in the AFL - but I doubt it

Clearly SANFL form is not indicator at the PAFC for selection in either of their two sides!

Oh well that means Port Magpies won't play 1 short this week with him out and North will have to mind 6 forwards!
