Swan Districts put West Coast on their scoreboard instead of East Perth for their clash last weekend.

It only lasted until 1/4 time when the EP president complained. Swans received a $500 fine for their protests against the AFL invasion.

Good thing that the WAFL doesn't employ Weslo for security. The sight of the West Coast banner being taken down and removed from the ground while the scoreboard attendant got manhandled and forcibly ejected by the constabulary would not have reflected well on the league.

Would someone in WA be able to give a summary of the impact of the AFL "reserves teams" changes in the WAFL this season?
Are crowds up or down (particularly crowds involving the reserves teams)?
Is there more or less interest in the WAFL in general by the public and media?
Has it made Peel and East Perth more or less competitive? Do they appear to be trying to win games as much as the other teams?
Has the initial backlash to the changes died down? Or is there still a lot of resentment to the changes by the other clubs and WAFL supporters (there must be some given the initial story in this thread)

Or is it still to early to tell and we have to wait until all the changes take place for 2014?

i love it, if the AFL invades the SANFL i would love Glenelg to do the same thing on the scoreboard, im sure the fans will donate some funds to pay the fine

it hasn't taken full effect yet with only this years draftees going to the aligned WAFL clubs. Local AFL players and interstate players at other clubs will transfer next year.

At one point both clubs were at the bottom of the table until The Royals went on a 4 game winning streak.

Hasn't made a difference to crowds IMO.

TBH: I think East Perth have rooted themselves on field with the alignment, they're rubbish this year. Peel are always down the bottom but they seem slightly more competitive.

It'll be more interesting to see what happens next year when all AFL listed players are moved to those two clubs.

If a "born and bred" WAFL player is so concerned about switching clubs, there's a simple answer. Don't nominate for the draft. He can then stay and play for his local WAFL club and earn WAFL match payments.
