Glenelg FC has today advertised a Special General Meeting of members to vote on constitutional change there. (Full details are also on the club's website).
1.What are the Snout's thoughts about the proposed changes?
2.How much consultation has Glenelg had with its members about this process? (How long, what form etc?)
3.Have any other clubs embarked on this process as yet?
4.What are the thoughts of other supporters?
5.For Glenelg supporters, what do you think of the AGM being held in February the following year, as is proposed?
6.Will Glenelg members be able to be voted directly on to the Board under this new Constitution?
7.Will the new arrangements require the election of a new Board completely, or will the old Board be kept on for another year at least without any new elections?
8.Any other thoughts/comments?
Well i certainly cant talk for any of the Other SNouts, but i can talk for myself as someone who has been on boards (bigger then the GFC) before and has a higher then average level of knowledge of the GFC boards.
1: I am 100% in favour
2: Not that I am aware of. I was made aware of the proposed changes in an informal chat with a board member a few months ago. I have discussed it today with people "in the know" and on the board at other SANFL clubs and they all support the idea
3. Yes
4.Probably "too hard"
5. This is the only thing that worries me, but the club has definitely struggled to be prepared for the last few agms including major typos in the published reports
6. I had not heard otherwise, so i PRESUME yes.
7. As far as I aware, the footballers club will be disolved. The chair of this board sits on both boards so presumably he would retain his post, the other 2(?) on the footballers club would be out of the frame
8. If any GFC members are confused/concerned, email the club. I have always found them open and honest and helpful when i have had queries about this sort of thing in the past. I have complete faith that this change is being done for all the right reasons.
