You beauty!
Must've been good weather then? If we could produce these results in the wet we'd be pushing for a spot in the 5.
Look forward to hearing about where it was won and lost. I just have a couple of minutes break from work and saw quickly on the SANFL site that we were trailing at half time but produced a big premiership quarter where Eagles were held goalless.
Well done Blues!!!

Theri, listened to the whole game, was a tight contest with the eags controlling the game and sturt hanging in there till half time. We smothered them in the third and kicked 3 to 0 to set it up, then outplayed them in the last. Bad kicking by the eags. Great games by coad, Kane, greenslade, battersby, Martin and kurtze. Macca with 4 too. Probably missed some but a great game to listen to. Well done blues! Eags are our bitches, esp at 'fortress Woodville' haha. ;)

I thought this was supposed to be the start of the Eagles winning run against 3 easybeats?

Well done Sturt, completely differant side in the dry.
Will be a very challenging opponent for anyone under dry conditions.
Very happy to get 2 wet games against them :D

All that can be said is that they missed out on a very good opportunity, what with West losing.

Another great effort again against one of our bogey sides and grounds. Great tackling, I reckon they got caught HTB about 5-6 times and should've been more. Good ball movement when kicking into the wind which we seem to do better than kicking with the wind. Coad marshals the backlines beautifully and creates great run from defense. Our young kids are all coming along nicely, Harms with another good game, Greenslade hard at the ball, Montgomery and Page showing good signs and Battersby is all class. Best game for a very long time from McIntyre great tackling and kicking for goal.
I've only see two Eagles games but they seem undisciplined, Sumner needs the riot act read to him or someone should run through him and lay him out flat to teach him a lesson.
Well done Blues, the Pales are tasting swwweeeet.

When the Eagles are bad, they are really bad. Sturt got better as the game went on and if the game went for any longer Sturt would have kept on going.

The move of Salter to the backlines was a terrible move by Godden in the 3rd. Sturt started to rebound from half back and any effort the Eagles made to go forward was a waste of time. Ainger was useless and is a liability at the moment. I don't think the Eagles are any better with him in the team as they would be with a Staple or Fitzgerald. If he is not fit then rest him until he can contribute. Big money wasted.

Heath should be sent to the Magpies or dropped to the Reserves never to play another league game for the Eagles. Batley doesn't have the will to play league football. His weakness a few years ago was that he got tired after about 5 minutes and nothing has changed.

Martyn and Lloyd look promising and are worth persisting with. Thought Powell and Petrenko were ok, Thompson was good until he got injured, if that is as serious as it looked he'll be a major loss.

Two losses to Sturt at home have cost us a top 3 spot. Regardless, I don't think we are at the level of West and Norwood anyway. Finals look a certainty so this loss might not be so bad after all as Godden can now rest the players he needs to rest over the next few weeks instead of fighting tooth and nail for West's spot in the 3. Start preparing for an Elimination Final now and at the same time get some more game time in to the younger players ready for the future.

Agree with Aerie re Heath. Ainger isn't right and we need to have more options going forward, although if he'd kicked accurately he'd have had six goals today. Disagree about West being better than us; I think on paper we have a far better squad, but if we don't win games like today, that counts for little. The door isn't closed on a double chance with West losing today, but it basically means we're going to have to win at least two out of North, Norwood and West. Possible, but today was a missed opportunity.

Once again Sturt were far better than us at Woodville. Goalkicking was a major factor, but after half time we had few answers to Sturt's run and screwed up too many times. Hope we don't play them twice again at Woodville next season! :(

Was a good performance and felt that if we were within a goal at half time we were a chance given what was happening up until that point but we were down by 11 and thankfully it didn't matter.
Thought Coad was even better than what he was against Glenelg and it appeared after half time when he was on Borholm that Borholm was making dummy leads to get Coad away from the play.
Battersby fantastic again and Montgomery important after half time as well as Jaensch for the whole game.
Thought Goldsworthy very good for the Eagles as well as Lewis.
We certainly got the better of the umpiring but in the corresponding match last year that we lost by 10 points, the free count was 10 to 27 compared with 29 to 15 today. Unfortunately all clubs get shafted at some stage.
Unfortunate incident after the match where the father of Byron Sumner made an accusation against a Sturt player to a friend of mine and myself even though we hadn't actually said anything to him, I think we were just a vehicle to express his frustration. To the credit of the people around him, they saw it for what it was which was good as it could have gotten completely out of control as the Weslo people were probably already on their way home by then.
