Round 19 WWT v South - Post Match

Postby saintal » Sat Aug 10, 2013 7:26 pm

Eagles 18.5 def South 6.9.

South are just playing out time now. Very ordinary game. Lack of atmosphere. Too many easy goals to Slaven's Sell Outs. Indirect, garbage football from South. 324 possies for 6 goals. 6 goals on the most perfect day for footy imaginable. Hard to find any positives really.

Hopefully the two Eagles blokes carried off are ok, but the knee (Rowntree?) looked bad. 3 goals to a Dunstan..I assume he hasn't played much league footy? Ainger again very quiet, not moving well.

Just another capitulation. Lost a lot of games last year, but never got really belted like this year. Really pissed off at how this season has gone so far backwards.
...and with another year to go with Ronnie's contract I guess next year is not going to be very much different. South's game is too short and stop-start.

Yep this year is chalk and cheese with last season. Lost 4 games by a kick or less last year. This year we've had three 100+ hidings and a handful of other shockers like today. When Wundke booted 2 in a couple of mins I thought we were a sniff, back within about 4 goals. But we didn't kick another goal after that and the last quarter was dreadful.

Yes, when they get behind, the heads drop and don't bother chasing. Tackles don't stick and they look pathetic.

Eagles way too good in what was a horrible game.

Their younger players were impressive.

Yes it was rather an advert for change, whether that be getting rid of Fuller or riding along on the Slaven Sellout Train!
Boring game that unfortunately happens regularly this time of year with the same teams having already put the cue in the rack.
South know what they have to do but will they have the balls to actually make it happen? Probably not  50 years and counting heh!
Ronny ain't it ... all agree?..... Move on...

Average game made worse by the Eagles having two players go off on stretchers. Highlight was following the scores of the Sturt game.

Has Fuller changed the game plan to more of a modern one in the latter part of this season? He was all about long kicking and efficiency previously.

Thought Heath was excellent and that was Batley's best game playing off the half back flank. Ellis-Yolmen again really good as a key back on Wundke. His improvement has been remarkable. Has become one of our most important players heading in to the finals.

South mounted a bit of a comeback to draw within 4 goals in the 3rd, but the kick out from full back straight to Goldsworthy saw an end to that and it was all too easy for the Eagles from there.

Thought he was okay; Wundke did have seven shots on goal.

Done for the year !

Can't take watching this crap anymore ..... Just utter garbage !

Club needs to make a change with coaching and player management next year or there will be no one watching them in 2014.
Is out of change.....thanks Cambridge Clarrie!!!

Come on lads, quite seriously, have a decent rant about your club's issues and let's debate away because saying nothing and accepting where you are now can not be the way to go
Some of those lads in your team have the goods for sure, but from our view, South just don't look interested enough ... and that's on the coach.
No way the Eagles are a dozen goals better then South on a perfect day, that's just want ( between the ears ).

I haven't seen much long kicking this year. Usually 15-20m kick, then go back and have a look. Nothing up the ground so go sideways. OK, that didn't work, so go sideways again. By this time the opposition have closed up and effected a spoil, and a goal the other way is the result.

From memory, the reason Ronnie gave for leaving the Eagles was that he needed a break. I think he still needs that break. There's no doubt that South need to have a lot of change in the coaching ranks, and I just hope that somebody in the football department is looking at potential replacements.

Who are the budding coaches out there? The Gowans boys? Gallagher? Anybody new would be better than what we've seen this year.

Total B Shite, Fuller ran out of support, with the Chairman on the way out, he had no more chances; the supporters had certainly had it with his average recruiting and basic gameplan.
The players were certainly sick of the Fuller attitude and basic lack of man management skills, although he can be quite good company when he wants to be
Does this scenario sound familiar :)

Rowntree's knee doesn't look good, Appleton gashed forehead and mild concussion-should be OK this week, Ainger sore shoulder area/collar bone and may miss a week.
Uninspiring game but really like the look of Dunstan, very skilful and solid through the hips. Probably won't see him in the gold, blue and green in 2014.
