SANFL Requiem

As a long time Centrals supporter who copped many a hiding and ribbing from Port in the last century, I used to hate Port with a passion.

How strange it seems to now be admiring and supporting their fight against city hall to keep the Magpies alive.

Sadly I feel the Port and SANFL fight is all in vain and as JC said on the cross when he took his last breath "it's over and into your hands I trust". The AFL has had it's way.

Norwood you are the Judas of the SANFL and may your board hang it's head in shame in the years to come when see our once great comp deteoriate into a token of what it once was. I feel far more bitter about that than anything Port dished out to us over the years

:(

yes, now their deceit has now become apparent. And to think, I secretly loved them.

Agree with all of the above, except not really sure why Norwood are singled out. 6 club presidents voted yes and all 6 of them should hang their heads. Forever. As for the ex premier... how do you draw a noose here?

Norwood are singled out because they came out like heroes, sprouting off how they will openly state that they are a NO. then all Norwood supporters jumped on the bravado bandwagon & started to chest beat & ridicule the other clubs, because THEY wouldn't come out & state publicly that THEY were a no too. (maybe because they were more rational thinkers), then nek minit, the big time heroes laid down, bent over & took it up the anoose, much to everyone elses surprise and disgust, mainly about how two-faced Norwood appeared to be. Pretty close am I?

Geez, the Port Adelaide spin has clearly won you over dogbreath...

What Port want above all else is:

The Magpies as their AFL Reserves team. This in itself spells the end of the Magpies as we know it.

The point of difference is the set up below league level.

Port's juniors to be used as nothing more than a marketing tool to let the world know Port Adelaide is a true club who nurtures juniors, but also has an AFL team.

In reality, those juniors will have to up and ship out after they finish U18's if they want to continue the pathway from junior footballer to SANFL league level and then pssibly on to AFL, given there might be only a couple of spots for them because the Power need somewhere to play the rest of their AFL list.

I actually hope Port get what they want, because it will keep the Port people thinking it is still the Magpies and I reckon that will be better for the SANFL. However, which ever way it goes, the SANFL or Port's proposal, the things that Summerton wrote on his facebook rant essentially still apply.

LMAO .. Norwood cop shit for talking to the VFL in the 80's even though we stayed loyal to the SANFL. Now we're accused of being disloyal.

Pretty close indeed.
But in the end we were one of six.
Will you turn on your own when the vote to let Port in is unanimous?

I read a great quote recently:

"It's like giving your enemy a box of hand grenades and asking them to be gentle with you".

Vale the SANFL.

One of 6 but as usual singled out.
Don't know what the fuss is because Port were gone after next year anyway.
We are in a situation we should have been in when Port went to the AFL ..... the Magpies became the Power and went into the AFL. Full stop end of story.
Having said that I am sad to see the Magpies go but lets face it the real Magpies have been dead for years.
