Losing three finals now in a row, basically because of our midfield ran out of gas, is unexceptable at our club.... I mean we aren't Glenelg FFS!

Maybe its time to Merge with another club???

I spoke to some people and said anyone who plays Rd 1 for Port (I call them Magpies FC or maybe something else on the database next year) will debut for the new club. They were not all that happy with this. They were saying its still the magpies which I completely disagreed with.

I said, they are a power reserves side it cant be the magpies. They will have no zones - Players will come from AFL non-starters and top-up players from wherever. This was when it was stated that they may have a reserves team to their sanfl league side without zones.

Therefore, there is an attempt by some on the commission to get Ports SANFL side a reserves side. Thus the power have an academy, afl side, league sanfl side and sanfl reserves side. Seems to be a lot of water to go under the bridge yet and I will make my voice heard next year in every way possible if I get a spot on the board when we discuss this club and such ambitions

I threw this in as well - "One could argue the united club (when Magpies and POwer united) is a new AFL club as well and no premiership and no 1870 link"

One could also argue night is day and day is night. Doesn't make it true.

My GOD the paranoia still runs deep.

Heaven help any club that wants to enhance the development of junior footballers.

Paranoia runs deep? That's why so many Port Magpies players are leaving...

How about you put some names to that grandiose statement.

Heard the same thing with Boyd, but will the Tigers pay the $50K he wants plus the $25K + transfer fee?

Gray will be picked up by The Power. Someone at another club interested in recruiting him were told not to bother by someone at The Power...

And that is precisely my point made earlier in this thread.

The eagles are lazy recruiters and only ever bother poaching players from other clubs. If the situation regarding Gray plays out like it most likely will (i.e. Power drafting Gray), the eagles will not have Plan B and we will again begin the new season with excuses.

Heard it from a very reliable source.

I'm certain he won't play, he told me.

If only you were a reliable source

Bit hard to play when he will be living in Sydney! unless Norwood are going to fly him in every week!!

Your spot on! When you line up Baust, Blesing, Martyn and Daniel Kirk and think about what they contributed to the Eagles doing anything in September, lazy recruiting is calling it as it is.
Magpies players that have no love for the Power/AFL and are league regulars should be a priority, even a retired Mieklejohn :o for a year!

What's the difference between recruiting Mieklejohn and Kirk? Both from other SANFL getting towards their last couple years, and anyone can go down with injury.
Martyn we picked up from the Crows rookie/development list, so I think it says a bit of good about our club that he wanted to stay around after getting cut by them.
Blesing and Carey I'd agree with, though you could put Borholm into that category and he started to show a bit towards the end of the year.
