Just interested in people's opinions given 4 stations will be broadcasting the same game at the same time.

For me it will depend on who is commentating. What is RPH's likely lineup?

1st to vote.... Don't know, Don't care.... I have no favourites.... If I am not happy I will change stations...?

I go to watch footy.... Smell the smells. have a shout. Wave my flag. And have a good time, regardless of the outcome...!

Probably grab a burger, fries and a couple of bottles of coke to pour my hip flask contents into..!
Smile :)

It's only Money $$$ :)

What is happening to our SANFL guys...

Voted for 5RPH on this one. They've been there covering the comp all year. They deserve it. I go to the footy on a regular basis but I enjoy listening in to their calls while I'm there.

When I'm at a league game I normally don't have the radio on, unless I'm at the underage games, then it's RPH or LifeFM.

Will be at the games so wont listen.

However you are caught between volunteers that watch the teams every week who aren't really football experts as such and experts who see 5 games a year and pretend to know whats happened during the year.

Id go ABC or 5aa but if someone was caught out id get pissed off and turn over to life or rph.

"Baby on board". Why dont you put a sign on ur car saying "adult on board" or "car stereo in use"?

ABC and 5aa probably posses better "callers" too. Just a little bit smoother.

Thanks for the feedback

For record @ RPH the four of us (Darryl Smith, Dennis Browne, Paul Blandis & myself) will be commentating EVERY LEAGUE final.

Chris Kendall will also be with us giving regular updates from the boundary / huddles.

In the Reserves Prelim & Grand Final it will be John Nankivell, Chris Kendall and Chris Andrews.

As for - I probably need to ask what do you need to do to be considered a "footy expert" ?
- Play 200 SANFL games (Smithy)
- Analyse the game over 5 decades (DB)
- Call over 30 games in the minor round (Paul)
- or "write the book" on the league (me).

For mine .... an expert is someone who knows enough about the subject at hand (ie SANFL) to provide an opinion that is both accurate and not superficial. An expert does not necessarily need to be someone with "profile".

Between us RPH has this season broadcast ;
- Eagles 10 games, North 7 games, Central 10 games, South 9 games and Port 10 games.

Given some finals broadcasters haven't event called 6 SANFL games in total this season this should certainly give us the knowledge to provide "expert" coverage.

I seen Phil plug this book during an SANFL game on ABC earlier in the year and apologies if this was also covered on here back then but I forgot about this site and only remembered it last week. I just went back to about May looking for a possible thread but couldn't find one so just wondering if Phil or someone could please tell me if I can still buy this book from somewhere and if so, where?

I've got the Dion Hayman book from the late 80s and the Jars/Platts one from the late 90s so an updated book would be awesome.

Thanks in advance. 8)

EDIT: Also apologies for asking that on this thread but as said I couldn't find another and with Phil mentioning it here thought no harm in asking it on this thread.

Howdy mate, for about 4 or 5 months I had a dedicated web page for the SANFL media guide, it went off sale many a moon ago and the only place you can purchase one (Im not sure if he's run out or not) is at the Toss of the Coin on Unley Rd. I actually sold the media guide online for Phill for quite a few weeks.
