Had heard about this as a possibility a while ago, interesting that it is going ahead...
Will be intriguing to see how much coverage the other 8 SANFL clubs get, outside of the Crows and Power Reserves /. Magpies...

FOOTY SA
SUNDAY, MARCH 30 KICK-OFF AT 1.00PM ON CHANNEL NINE
South Australian football finally has its own weekly program with Footy SA set to premiere this Sunday at 1.00pm on
Channel Nine.
Produced by Crocmedia for the Nine Network, Footy SA will focus on Port Adelaide, Adelaide, the SANFL, the Channel 9
Adelaide Football League (formerly SAAFL), and SA regional footy. The program debuts the day after the new Adelaide
Oval is unveiled in Showdown XXXVI.
The Sunday Footy Show’s Craig Hutchison will host Footy SA and be joined each week by a raft of South Australian
stalwarts, including Warren Tredrea, Simon Goodwin, Stephen Rowe and Sean Wellman, as well as SANFL legend
Neil Balme and a host of other South Australian stars.
The Advertiser’s Michelangelo Rucci will also provide news and views each week with his Rucci’s Rant segment.
Crocmedia executive director Chris Giannopoulos said South Australia deserved its own footy program.
“This will be the biggest year ever in South Australian football, with a stadium unmatched in comfort terms which will
transform the city,” Giannopoulos said.
“We want to play our role in bringing South Australian footy to the people. South Australia deserves its own show and its
own parochial sense of focus.
“Footy SA will be fun, vibrant, challenging and no doubt confrontational at times, just the way we like it. This program will
be all things South Australian footy, and it will unashamedly champion the great football that is played in this state.”
Footy SA is presented by Farmers Union Iced Coffee.
FOOTY SA – STARTS SUNDAY, MARCH 30, AT 1.00PM ON CHANNEL NINE

Well with the Victorian Hutchison as pilot of the show and the bulk of the 'SA stalwarts' probably never having attended an SANFL game in the last 15 years I doubt the SANFL will get much coverage beyond revealing the scores.

I imagine the Adelaide Football League and country leagues will get less than 30 seconds air time, and that's an optimistic estimate!

Obviously Rowey has a closer eye on the SANFL competition, being the State Team Chairman of Selectors...
I know that Channel 9 were at a couple of SANFL clubs of late filming some promotional material so hopefully it gets some half decent coverage...

That's just the way it is with production. Don't have the same standard of facilities here in Adelaide...

Nine just did live election coverage from Adelaide. Good enough for that, the local studio's good enough for a local footy show. Is there no SA talent to host rather than Hutchy?
Given Nine are the sponsors of SAAFL, I'd be hopeful there's a bit more than scores on there.

Guessing there ammo coverage will be on the same scale as almost football legends.
I'm sure channel 9 Adelaide has ample facilities to produce the show.

Croc media is Hutchy's company.
Is there no end to the lengths you lot will complain? Between Channels 9 and 7, the SANFL hasn't had such a level of mainstream media coverage in decades. And yet you all seem to carry on like you want it kept a big secret.

while having a program on mainstream tv is good, unfortunately this is heavily negated by the fact it is produced out of Melbourne and most of the guests are based in VIC so therefore they don't really have a hands on grasp of the current SANFL environment.

Do you think you would enjoy at 'Port Adelaide Football Club' Show made out of Queensland with the host being Alistar Lynch and panellists of Chris and James Gowans, Jimmy Allan, Brett Backwell and Jade Sheedy.
I have no issue with the show but I do know that it wont hold my attention just to see the 30 secs to a minute it will give to SANFL football imho.

Whilst it's better than nothing, I will be surprised in the SANFL receives more than a quick run-down of the round's scores and the ladder. Probably a mention or two of any Crows and Power "Stars" who are playing in the league also. There is only so much you can fit into 22/23 minutes.

Presuming the show goes for half an hour which will mean around about 24 minutes of actual show without adverts, and knowing its shown on a Sunday I reckon the running sheet (heheheheh) will be something like
2min introduction of guests, bullshit yarn and whats coming up in the show.
6min Preview/Review of that Rounds Crows AFL game
6min Preview/Review of the Rounds Port AFL game
2min Rucci Rant which will be no different to him just reading out the rucci roast from the Advertiser
1min Discussion from the panel about Rucci Rant
4min Recorded interview with ex SANFL player/ex SA based AFL player or rising star player in SA football
1min SANFL scores read out including showing a goal or two from the AFL clubs reserves (may include scores from Amatuer Div1)
2min- Wrap (rest of the weekends games and next weeks show etc)

No complaint there, Beeny.
A) I mentioned that live coverage of election was done in Adelaide, negating claims that studios aren't good enough.
B) I asked a question, is there no SA talent? Heck, Tredders would be great at it. Not a complaint.
C) I expressed hope that there will be more than SAAFL scores on there.
And...I'd argue that currently, the only SANFL coverage in mainstream media in recent times has been about the Crows and Power reserves sides in the league. Which is great for the AFL brand. I have not seen any increased coverage of the remaining SANFL clubs. However, I am looking forward to watching Seven's coverage of the opening game of the season - a wise choice to pick that game first up.

Think I'll watch the first couple of shows before making comment. The concept sounds great but to my mind the content is what will make or break the show. 30mins isn't very long to discuss the issues as stated in the press release

Not even sure that this topic should be on the SANFL board as it will show less SANFL than the old channel 10 show which showed stuff all.
And supporters of at least 2 clubs most weeks will be on their way to games at that time.
