Apparently Bollenhagen played for them on Anzac Day eve, and then suited up for Renmark on the Sunday, where he duly injured his hamstring.

Yep, playing to the line alright....

Interesting video on Herald Sun Superfooty page, apparently Port Magpies can have 2 runners with their physio giving clear instructions to players whilst the official runner still on field......

You know the whole thing is a joke when Phil Walsh has the 'State League' coach pull certain players from the field because he wanted them as emergencies for the AFL team.

IMO that is making a mockery of the integrity of the SANFL competition (and it really can't afford to lose what little integrity it has left).

The AFL keeps tooting their own horn about what they do for grass roots football with things like Auskick. But the reality is that what they are doing is nothing more than securing the future of their own competition with little care for what happens to the various state based leagues such as the SANFL, WAFL and the VFL.

That used to happen before though. Nothing different in that regard.

Yeah - I get that, but could you imagine Ben Warren allowing Baulderstone to have a run with his old mob on the Sunday after playing Friday night - or at any other time during the season for the matter? Dont tell me the Crows wouldnt be aware this was happening - they really just dont give a stuff! At least they could pretend they were taking it seriously...

Absolutely agree with you mate .. If these players are only making $400 a game with AFC then I understand them wanting an extra kick, but it's farcical from the Sanfls POV

Dion Hayman has just tweeted that he's running a story on tonight's news about the plummeting crowds and one CEO's call to urgently review the involvement of the two AFL clubs. Not sure who it is, hopefully one of the filthy six and not South or the Dogs.

Kris Grant wanting to review the conditions too. Perhaps one rule could be mandatory resting of emergency listed players in the last quarter.

It shouldn't be happening at all. Players aren't allowed to play SANFL then in the same weekend play for their local club. Golden Grove have already lost points this year from doing this.

Alas, the damage is done me thinks :(

If that is true about Rowe - he's as big a hypocrite as his predecessor!
"This is good for football in SA"
"It must happen, the right thing to do"
"The competition will grow & become stronger"

Sound familiar Stephen?

Caught the discussion about the story on 5AA after 6pm tonight.

Rowe is the definition of a turncoat, but was actually talking some sense on the matter. Those sentiments may have been handy during 2013, instead he changed his tune as soon as Cornes left the show and presumably the AFC/management got in his ear.

Bickley..well, clearly he hasn't considered the issue too deeply, as all he could muster were the usual "extra home game", "1500 crows supporters buying pies", "league was already compromised" arguments that you get from people who are blinded by their allegiance.

They took a handful of calls and a few blokes let off some steam which was good to hear.

While some fleeting media coverage on the subject makes a welcome change, unless changes are driven by the 8 clubs nothing will improve. I'm not holding my breath.

To be fair to Rowe he has never been totally for the reserves teams and has said that the old model wasn't broken, he's been quiet in his opposition yes but consistently against it while pleasing his masters also. He's on a good gig, can't really blame him for that too much.

WTF? There are still people pedalling the crows reserves crowd argument? In the media no less.
I think the crows fans all arrive on the same mini bus to SANFL games, so they can spread themselves out on all the spare seats.
Was he talking about 1500 fans over the course of a year perhaps?
