The Double Blues are flying and currently undefeated after a great Thursday night win against the Redlegs. The Eagles are coming off a poor showing against the Port Adelaide Power's Reserves side, with the Magpies totally outclassing them...

This has the makings for a very good contest and is probably match of the round, for mine. Looking forward to calling it on RPH...

Envestra Park, Unley

Reserves at 11:25am

League at 2:10pm

Broadcast on 1197am RPH from 2:00pm

Should be a good game. The first game I can attend for the year so keen to see the new players Seamus has added. From watching the highlights and the boys signing the song, Brodie Atkinson seems to be having a big impact. No one loves the club as much as he does and it seems like the boys are playing that way.

From an outsiders perspective its great to see Sturt getting reward for investing in so many of its juniors who appear to have genuine talent.

Their main recruit - Kirkwood - has been great and only wished the eagles had placed 100% of their efforts on trying to recruit him rather than Sam Gray. He is one player who we will have to keep our eye on.

As for the weekend's match the eagles will only win if they can get Ainger up for it. Our forward line without him or Grocke doesn't look likely to kick more than 10 goals.

If he plays then eagles by 3-4 goals.

Is Ainger that important to your chances? I rate Wundke and Grocke for sure but the odd times i've seen Ainger play it's been very underwhelming.
I don't rate him but having said that he'll probably go and kick a lazy six or so now. :)

Ainger is a gutless spud ... will only kick goals if the going is easy and he keeps his handbag out the way.

A bit over the top with the 'gutless' part, particularly if you saw how the circumstances how he was knocked out about Centrals.

But certainly against the weaker teams he will kick 5-6 goals whilst he will only kick 1-2 in the tougher games. He needs to improve his consistence.

Ronnie - in answer to your question, yes Ainger is important to our chances. He was our highest goalkicker last year I believe and his presence (along with Grocke) will mean Wundke doesn't get the best defender each week. Wundke isn't mobile enough to do much damage these days but could easily kick 3-4 if attention is given to Ainger and Grocke.

The two fattest full-fowards going at it this week Wundke vs Duldig. Who will kick more goals?

Recovery time could have a big impact on the result with Sturt playing last Thurs night and the Eagles Sunday. They looked out on their feet after the game against PAP reserves.
