AFL delistings - possible SANFL return?

I note a couple of former SANFL players have were delisted today by AFL clubs.

Carlton delisted Jaryd Cachia (formerly Norwood)

Melbourne delisted Mitch Clisby (formerly North)

Brisbane delisted Nick Hayes (formerly Eagles)

Not sure whether Cachia would be as interested to come back to Adelaide now that his AFL career would more than likely be over for good (and that he is from Victoria as well I think) but the other two might be pursued by their former clubs in SA.

To be honest I was surprised that Clisby didn't get more of a go with Melbourne - great player.

Cachia has a young family now so that would probably keep him in Melbourne. Loves Norwood though, so maybe one day hopefully.

Yep he's a Port boy Gadj and infact a North Haven junior. Will be interesting to see if he comes back home to Port and become a top up player for the Power reserves next season.

Would he be interested in playing Div 4 next season? :D

Haha! We were talking about that at training tonight, Beau and Lucas might have to give him a call. ;)

For $400 a game like all of the other top up players, i'm sure port will fit him in..

Top ups can't be recruited from interstate now. Does that extend to ex-SA players coming home? I guess we'll find out over the next few months.

Petrenko, Porplyzia, Ellis-yolmen, Lewis Johnston could all maybe return to their old sanfl clubs next year.
With all 4 players out of contract at the moment

There was a puff piece on how Lewis Johnston could get a new deal in the last couple of weeks, which wouldn't have been published unless it was going to happen. The article amusingly boosted his credentials by reference to the fact that he had "just one goal kicked on him" in the R18 mauling by Norwood. In that game, he bravely accumulated 12 possessions while either playing loose man and/or manning up on anyone who wasn't one of the 2 KPPs tearing the Crows a new one—Liam Davis or Michael Newton—leaving those tasks to players vastly less experienced than him, who coincidentally rarely got an effective 3rd-man-up chop-out. That's creative journalism for you. On the evidence of that game, he's gone so far backwards from the 2013 GF he played for North as to hardly be recognisable as the same player.

I'd be surprised if Porplyzia continues playing at SANFL level.

I'd be surprised if Ellis-Yolmen got delisted. He seemed to be on the cusp of selection most of the year and seemed to gather a tonne of possessions each week for the Crows in the SANFL.

The other three will be delisted for sure along with Graham and a few others.

Ellis-Yolmen should retain his spot IMHO

You are right once your been in a afl list you can't be a top up player for port even if port is where you come from.
