The Sturt Football Club is proud to announce that Adelaide journalist, radio identity and passionate Sturt fan, David Penberthy, has been appointed as a Club Ambassador.
Club Ambassadors represent and promote the club in a positive way, interact with key stakeholders and help ‘sell’ Sturt at every opportunity.
Only ‘true blue’ and dedicated individuals who are able to positively influence people in the community are considered for the role of Club Ambassador.
David, who’s married to Federal MP Kate Ellis (a Glenelg fan, unfortunately!), is well known to South Australians as a News Corp journalist and through his role on the high-rating FiveAA Breakfast Show.
Sturt President Jason Kilic said appointing David was an easy decision as he is often seen at Unley supporting the Double Blues and, through his media roles, makes no secret of the fact that he loves his club.
“We offered David this important honorary role as he’s a fearless journalist who, through his print and radio roles, really sets the agenda,” Mr Kilic said.
“David is the kind of high-profile supporter we need to help us promote the club and to be the very best we can be in 2015.”
David said he had no hesitation in accepting the role.
“As someone who grew up cheering for champions like the Jumbo Prince, Peter Motley and Paul Bagshaw, this truly is a great honour,” Mr Penberthy said.
“I’m really excited about Sturt’s future and I want to help in any small way I can to see the SANFL premiership cup return to Oxford Terrace.”
