Hi all,
Not claiming that it's "rare" or anything, just wondered though - when was the last time that both lower ranked teams won in the first week of the finals?
And how often?

Dunno about the last time, but in 1991 West (5th) beat Port and North (3rd) beat the Eagles in week 1 of the finals.

2001 - Norwood (5th) beat West (4th) and Eagles (3rd) beat Port (2nd)

It also happened in 1983 - North (5tth) beat South (4th) and Norwood (3rd) beat Sturt (2nd)
Also 1980 - Norwood (5th) beat Torrens (4th) and Sturt (3rd) beat Glenelg (2nd)
And 1976 - Norwood (5th) beat West (4th) and Glenelg (3rd) beat Sturt (2nd)
