EAGLES
Woodville-West Torrens has been significantly boosted by the return of co-captain Luke Thompson for the contest against Sturt at Peter Motley Oval on Saturday.
Thompson, who suffered damage to his ankle ligaments, has been joined by ruckman Fraser Thurlow and hard-running Sam Martyn in the Eagles’ 23-man squad.
Forward Alby Dunstan has been sent back to the Reserves with two more players to be trimmed from the extended interchange before the bounce.
Star midfielder James Boyd (groin) is arguably the only player missing from coach Michael Godden’s strongest line-up.

Definitely arguably because Goldsworthy is not in there either.

Yep, dare say Goldsworthy is in our best side.. But him and Boyd only 2 id say that are missing

STURT
Sturt star Zane Kirkwood is expected to play against the Eagles at Peter Motley Oval on Saturday.
Despite the Magarey Medallist copping a heavily corked thigh against Glenelg last round, Double Blues officials expect him to prove his fitness at training on Thursday night.
‘’He should play,’’ Sturt football manager Shane Grimm said.
‘’Not playing in the second half against Glenelg has actually helped him with the recovery so he will train tonight (Thursday) and we expect him to play.’’
Forwards Sam Smith Josh Hone and Matt Duldig have been added to the team’s 23-man squad to boost potency while midfielders Rory Taggert and Christian Calabrese will also add depth to coach Seamus Maloney’s options.
Lee Staple couldn’t be considered after suffering concussion against the Tigers last round while Tom Harms won’t play again until Round 15 as he rests the patella tendon in his knee.
Defender Jarrod Lienert was sent back to the Reserves.

Almost identical conditions to the earlier round at Woodville this year.. Wouldn't mind seeing a dry day game between these 2 sides

I'd be interested in seeing the crowd figure from this game .
I'm aware of a number of people who walked in as the gates weren't manned . Yes they had tickets

Nostradamus!
James Boyd ruptured his groin Wed night at training. Best case scenario will be 6-8 weeks but according to the man himself, probably out for the season. Players like Schwarz, Appleton now need to stand up as there is a spot for the taking.
Hard earned win at PM Oval. Allmond continues to impress as does Hall. Kurtze murdered us but to no avail in the end. Petrenko and Rowntree were significant with their tough work in heavy conditions. Coad excellent as 'sweeper'/'spare' for Sturt.
6 in a row for the Eags at Unley now apparently.

I was wondering what had happened to Boyd. I saw him hobbling to the team huddle during the breaks and he looked like he had sustained some kind of new injury as he could hardly walk. It would be a blow if his season has been written off although the team now appears to be playing well enough to cover.

I agree with Allmond continuing to impress. Since late last year he has really put some consistency into his games, got over all the niggling injuries he used to frequently pick up and really tidied up his foot skills. The role he has been playing in the backlines as a small defender, particularly in the absence of Goldsworthy, in the past few weeks has been really important.

Rowland looks to be a promising prospect having impressed on the weekend and the week prior.

Really pleasing is that we are getting the wins without the same one or two players starring each week. A very even team performance which is most important. All the players appear to have bought into Godden’s new game plan this season which has worked really well.
