WEST
West Adelaide is a strong chance to be unchanged for its finals-shaping clash against South at Hickinbotham Oval on Saturday.
After enjoying a fortnight of rest since their last outing against Sturt on August 1, the Bloods have added promising defender Riley Bonner and midfielder Nick Homburg to their 23-man squad.
The strength of coach Mark Mickan’s line-up is illustrated by Magarey Medallist James Ezard and former Richmond on-baller Brad Helbig still playing in the Reserves.
West captain Chris Schmidt will play his 100th SANFL league match when he lines up against the Panthers at Noarlunga.

More injuries! South to reverse the result from earlier in the year and win by 1 point.

Game of the round by my calculations. South must win to keep the double chance alive. West can afford to drop only one more game to ensure its place in the top three.

Tough one to call.

Bloods 1-39 but no certainty.

This will be a cracker of a game. Bloods have steadily built a really good year and will be a big finals threat if they can get the double chance. That said, carn the Yeohs!

More injuries that will further test our depth. The resigning of Gotch will add an air of positivity to the group with the prize of finals beckoning.

Perfect day for footy and a blockbuster crowd of 1500 should see a good tough match.

Going the Wristwatcher prediction style on this one, South 1-39.

I don't really gamble anymore but that was the TAB margin last year and you always got better than $2.

Touché. Pretty much unchartered territory for us hence my ignorance.

The last time we had the same coach for four years was when we had one signed for five.

Should be a good game . The two best coaches going head to head . South have injuries and I think West are the real deal. In font of a massive crowd of 1217 .......West by 23

Good game to watch and an important win obviously. South's forward line finally looked potent, with Eddy booting 5 and Overall and Haren playing support roles with 2 each. Gulden (all class), Gotch and Cross busy in the middle, while consistent duo Crabby and Rose were once again very good. Schwarz played his best game for the year, kicking a couple of great goals in the 3rd, while I like the way McMahon attacks the footy.

Injuries to Veide (ankle), Haines (collarbone? shoulder?) on-top of Redigolo during the week (fell over in shower apparently) sees the casualty ward growing busier at the wrong end of the season. The ressies had to blood a number of u18s apparently.

Westies never really looked like winning and were flat for most of the day. Fielke very good with 5 goals.

Crowd was again poor. 1200-1300 maybe.

Thought Gotch was brilliant. First time he's had 30 disposals in a game for South. Gulden is starting to look the goods now too. Agree with McMahon, looks very hungry out there.

Couple of big milestones next week to hopefully inspire us against Port with Crossy playing his 100th and Eddy his 50th. Had Redigolo not fallen over in the shower he'd be celebrating 100 then as well.

Quite impressed with our youngsters yesterday who showed they could match it at the next level.

First reserves for Connor Fairlie, Ryan Need and Josh Stoyel who all looked pretty solid. Fairlie had 19 touches, 4 clearances and a goal; Need 18 touches and a goal; and Stoyel 10 touches and four marks.

Only the third reserves game for Cody Szust after 45 games in U/18s and he took a couple of strong lead marks and is a genuine future forward prospect imo.
