SANFL Ladders & Statistics - Round 18

Since we all know the permutations for the league and they'll be well-covered elsewhere, I'll touch on the lower grades.

UNDER 18s

Regardless of the result of the final H&A Macca's Cup game today, the first week of finals has been determined.

Eagles week off

Qualifying Final
North Adelaide v Norwood

Elimination Final
Glenelg v Sturt

RESERVES

Port has wrapped up the double chance with Glenelg having the final-round bye.

GLENELG (3rd)
For a final five spot: 99.99% guaranteed, unless Norwood beat the undefeated Eagles and North and Sturt draw with the scoreline no higher than 45-all.
For a double chance spot: No chance. Can not hold onto third as they're equal on points with Sturt and one ahead of North, and those sides play each other in the final round.

STURT (4th)
For a final five spot: Beat North, or lose and rely on the undefeated Eagles defeating Norwood
For a double chance spot: Beat North, or draw and rely on the undefeated Eagles defeating or drawing with Norwood

NORWOOD (5th)
For a final five spot: Beat the Eagles, or lose by approximately 24 points or less and rely on North losing to Sturt, but if they lose by more than approximately 24 points, then for every point more Norwood lose by, then North have to lose by 1 point greater than that. Confused?
For a double chance spot: Beat the Eagles and rely on North not beating Sturt by 24 points more than they beat the Eagles.

NORTH (6th)
For a final five spot: Beat Sturt, or lose and rely on Norwood losing to the Eagles by about 24 points more than what North can lose to Sturt to.
For a double chance spot: Win, and rely on Norwood losing.

My predicted finish:
Eagles
Port
North
Glenelg
Sturt

I'm expecting North to beat Sturt and jump from 6th to a double chance and the Eagles to predictably beat Norwood and go through undefeated and consign the Legs to the bottom four despite nesting in the top five for 15 weeks this year.

In the ressies why have Sturt, North, South and West only played 16 games?

Will all teams play the same amount of games before the finals?

Wouldn't they then be like the feeling Adelaide game and have them as draws with the points being split

Absolutely brilliant work all year, Scott.
Just one slight correction: South have only conceded 1094 points this year, giving them a percentage of 51.18%. This is their official position on the SANFL website and the total of their 17 matches does add up to this.

Cheers

ROUND 19:
SAT 29th August 2:10 pm
Norwood vs WWT
South vs Central
North vs Sturt
4:30 pm
Glenelg vs Adelaide
SUN 30th August 2:10 pm
Port vs West

WWT will definitely finish top.
Port almost certain to finish in the top three, unless they lose to West and Norwood beat WWT by about 200 odd points.
Westies assured of a top three berth provided they beat Port. If Norwood lose on Saturday then it doesn't matter.
Norwood definitely will play off in the elimination final unless they beat WWT and West lose to Port. They could mathematically overtake Port, if Port lose by 100 points+ and Norwood win by 100 points +.
South and Central is now the game of the round. Go you Panthers!!!
Thank God Adelaide aren't in it anymore. Saw them play yesterday and they were bloody monstrous.
Sturt should finish 8th in a season that didn't start too badly, provided Adelaide beat Glenelg. Sturt could hold their position by beating North, but I am not going to touch that.
Glenelg could finish 8th if they beat Adelaide, but that just isn't going to happen.
North will finish bottom. Not many spoons in the collection but they'll add one to it this year.

My ladder is correct.

The difference comes from the round three match where South beat Sturt 13.8 (86) to 9.9 (63) but for whatever reason the SANFL website only has 62 points for Sturt. Sturt was 5.5 at 3QT and 9.9 at the end, and the SANFL website has them as 5.6 at 3QT and 9.8 at the end. Sturt definitely scored 4.4 in the last quarter (a rushed at the two-minute mark and three behinds late in the game) and scored no behinds in the third.
