Up until last Sunday I would have said the Eagles comfortably but if Centrals play like they did last Sunday then I think they will win. They have proven over the past 6 years despite some indifferent form in the last two years during the minor round that you only need to get the double chance and then play at 100 percent all switched on come finals as they did Sunday. Their belief as a team coupled with the mental strength and arrogance they have developed would be something every club would love to have but none can find it - especially the Eagles who have come up short every time and I think Sunday will be the same.

Roy Laird has proven what a great coach he is because this year with 5 premiership players leaving/retiring plus their Captain playing 1 game all year and their full back out with a knee injury and really only O'Sullivan recruited with any experience (Wilson and Thomas excepted but they were Centrals originals in any case), he has got it right when it counts and with no fuss, fanfare or theatrics.

I think some of Centrals strength and success over the past 2 years or so has been that they have built up an enviable record that their players do not want to lose or break that cycle and create an even longer dynasty I think the fear of losing that run is really motivating them as well. How far can Centrals take this remarkable run? Even some of their diehard fans would have to wonder that from time to time.

4 current players have played in all five Bulldog premierships (Chris Gowans, James Gowans and Matthew Slade).

I think this would be true if Nathan Steinberner is included as a current player. As far as I know, he has not retired yet.

I do, when i think back to when we lost in 02, i certainly didnt think we would be 2 wins from 4 in a row by this time, i do wonder if this year will be it, as i have at the end of every season since 03, or if it will just keep going.

Word is whatever we do this year, we will better in 07 and 08, due to some inside long term planning, put in place due to the loss of players after the 05 GF. (In other words, there is some more to come yet  )

Even with all of this success - it's still the nature of long term Doggies supporters to be pessimistic.
I'm enjoying the ride - and if we don't win again this year so be it.
But - as I've said all along, we'll give it a good shake.

Sooooo......seven finals to nil against the Eagles....
sorry Aerie ;)

Also - one of the more interesting stats I noted is that Ron Fuller's the longest serving coach in the history of the WWT or the two clubs it was merged from. Truly amazing stat considering how long the Eagles were around for in their original incarnation.
