AFL Draft

Postby John_Fidge » Sat Nov 26, 2005 11:03 am

The eagles have been dealt a blow with Stokes going interstate to Geelong, he was more likely to go last year but didn't. It must be a major blow to them. Vince went to the crows,Ryan Gamble went to Geelong. Wedgie, you got a good player there. Phil Raymond from Glenelg went to St.Kilda. Many more that I can't remember.

It looks like the eagles are losing just as many players as centrals.

But we have regained Thompson.

And of course Matthew Cooper.

AFL draft

Postby sturtpeter » Sat Nov 26, 2005 3:34 pm

I can not believe not one player from Sturt was taken...yet

I thought Bode was a moral to go and possibly James McLeay too.

Was surprised that Montgomery was picked up by the Western Bulldogs. Eade and Co. obviously feel that they can win the flag next year.
Congratulations to Stokes.
Like Pearce last year, Riscbeith finds out that setting records at the draft camp doesn't make you a certainty to be drafted. Hopefully for him, he can prove the scouts wrong like Pearce did.
Patfull must have impressed during his training up in Brisbane.
Were Hutchinson, Giles and Raymond rated as strong chances to be picked up before the draft?

Hutchison was thought to go late and I beleive was told a while ago he would be drafted by the Roos. Raymond was a smokie but I dont think many would have thought that Giles would have gone.

Grassroots Team: Ports

I certainly hope that port hasnt wasted a pick by drafting Giles, i dont know much about the guy, but generally you'd think that someone of his age to be any good, would be playing under 19's or senior footy, not under 17's. Lets hope he proves to be a wise choice, only time will tell though.
