GLENELG
Glenelg will benefit from the presence of vice-captain Aaron Joseph for its contest against West at Gliderol Stadium on Sunday.
Having served a one-match ban from the SANFL Incident Review Panel, Joseph has been named on the wing for the Tigers as one of three inclusions.
Bays coach Matt Lokan has opted for flexibility in also adding Brad Merrett and Max Proud to his 23-man squad.
Former Gold Coast Sun Tim Sumner will miss the match with a slight calf strain.
‘’It was a bit sore after the game against South,’’ Glenelg football manager Paul Sandercock said.
‘’He tried to train during the week but we thought it wasn’t worth the risk given we have got the bye next round.’’

WEST
West Adelaide has been boosted by the return of premiership utilities Jason Porplyzia and Travis Tuck for the clash with Glenelg at Gliderol Stadium on Sunday.
Porplyzia has been troubled by a slight knee injury while Tuck experienced back spasms in the club’s last trial match against Sturt.
They have both been included on the five-man extended interchange bench but are expected to play in the final 21 against the Tigers.
Key forward Mason Middleton has been named at centre-half forward while promising youngsters Jack Agostino and Hugh Haysman have also been added to the 23-man squad.
‘’Our side is looking so much stronger this week,’’ West football manager Andrew Marks noted.
‘’Other than Adam (Hartlett) we are much closer to the side which played in the Grand Final last year.’’
Last Saturday’s debutant Harry Vick, together with Nick Favretto and Oliver Johnson, has been sent back to the Reserves.

West will have a slow start to the season due to injuries and I see Glenelg improving this year. Glenelg by 17.

Good test for the Glenelg fans to see if they listen to the clubs call to action.

If Glenelg can eliminate the "one bad quarter" which plagued us all last year (and last week), we're a chance against a near full strength West side (barring Hartlett).
Weather forecast is good so hopefully a good turnout.

As a Blood's fan, I fear it will be a fairly ordinary season for us.
Time will tell but the signs aren't good in my opinion.
Bays to win and we will be looking down the barrell at a 0 and 3 start.....

Glenelg 21.14 d West 9.11

Nice to see the Bays put away last year's premier, and also nice to see the team consistently put together some coherent passages of play... but not too much can be read into the result because West simply did not put in, particularly in the second half of the match. It was largely a training run. Having players out is no excuse for the lack of effort; Rubbers ought to be tearing strips off them tonight.

Give it a few more rounds before any judgement can be made. I suspect that Glenelg will find it a little harder against more focussed opposition, and that West will find form.

Crowd 2803 from memory.

Westies will really struggle this year.
Too many good players are simply not fit and there is no depth at all this year.

Better signs.

No surprise with the result but the margin yes. Magnificent last quarter and Glenelg must fancy a top 5 spot. West will get better as players recover from injuries but they lost a few from last year and will drop. They weren't a dominant team last year anyway.

Been a while since all four grades won

16s kicked 15 goals to 1 after halftime to score a 15 goal win on Sat

Our 18s played OK and won by 12 goals

Good to rock up this afternoon at 1:45 to see the ressies 14 goals up and eventually win by 16.

League our worst performing side of the weekend basically....

That's ridiculous. Did people think West had their premiership team out there? I think the bloods will really struggle this year as they've lost too much talent. Norwood won a flag losing that much talent but they lost it over two years.

Naturally a very enjoyable day at the Football today. Not getting carried away by any means; have been to both West's games and they do appear underdone and are struggling. Love the fact we were ruthless in that last quarter.

Bye next week then a real test against Norwood at Norwood; who of course will be very keen to hit back after today's result.

My girlfriend and I look forward to once again braving Norwood Oval next Friday night. We were there twice last year for Glenelg and the Crows, and I am happy to report that somehow, we managed to get out of there alive.

But seriously, I actually enjoy going to Norwood; almost always a good crowd and atmosphere. Be nice to leave happy for once though; been a long time.
