Radio boys were very clear on it.
Panther player kicked the ball, which rolled out of bounds without being touched. So according to the new rule it should have been a free kick in to Centrals.
By the ump decided that the Central's player shepherded the ball out in order to get the free, when he could have picked it up. So the umps called a throw in instead.
In doing so, the ump must have applied a new interpretation to the rule as the ball definitely went out of bounds of the boot.

Having said that, maybe that is part of the rule all along. If the player deliberately shepards the ball out, the ump can call a throw in ??

Veide gives his 3rd 25 metre penalty.

South player soccer's it out, for a throw in ?

Could this new rule be SANFL's own "off side"

So instead of determining whether a player delibrately kicks it out they now have to determine whether a player lets it go out or no

What about soccering it out of bounds

No one knows including the three umpires who have different interpretations of holding the ball and the out bounds

They haven't impacted the result but it's the worse umpired game I have ever seen

We literally have three different versions of the rules
