My mail says they can't agree on the amount of dollars. Big difference in what's being offered and what is wanted.

Stan Alves lead the saints to 13-9 in 1998 and also got the chop, 12 months after the club's first GF in decades. Must be a St Kilda thing

Didn't Kym Hodgeman get sacked from Glenelg after losing a grand final?

Hodgeman certainly was sacked after losing a Grand Final.

The worst case ever in SA would have to be Neil Kerley at West. He took them top in 1961. In 1962 they lost the Grand Final to their nemesis, Port by 3 points in the Grand Final and Kerley was promptly sacked.

In the VFL didn't Jezza take Carlton in 1979 and was then sacked over the summer?

No Hodgy resigned, In a nutshell he wanted changes made to the Management of the senior program and the board didn't agree to those changes so he walked,
Let that be a lesson to you Port, no one beats the Bays five times in a row in a GF and gets away with it!!!

I seem to remember talk in the media at the time that Glenelg wanted a coach that could win grand finals, not just make them, so that was why Hodgeman wasn't reinstated.
Not doubting your story am Bays, but was the above just a spin put on by the media, or did Glenelg actually come out with those words, or is my memory playing tricks on me?
I'm gonna sit back, crack the top off a Pale Ale, and watch the Double Blues prevail

The point is rather moot whether he was sacked or walked. I have always been told by Bay mates that he was sacked.

I know the media doesn't always get it right but I attach a link to an article which states that he was sacked after disagreements with the Board.

Lots of talk at the time and still full of misconceptions, having been involved in the club at the time, he resigned.

Wow. Having had a quick read of a story about it, seems that the GM is put in place by the private owners, and then runs the team as a personal fiefdom without needing to consult with anyone (as long as he doesn't lose confidence of the owners).

I wonder if that's an all-time record in all sports for the winningest sacked coach? Probably not, because the lopsided nature of some comps, e.g. Premier League, means you can win more than you lose by a crushing margin, but still underperform expectations.

Maybe Di Mateo at Chelsea. Didn't he win the Chsmpoins League and then got the flick

Remember calling him in the 2013 Maccas Cup GF and thought he had a lot of potential...

Big, strong key position player who will be a good fit in the Bloods forward line...

Sam played some league footy at South in 2015 but left to return to the SFL, now he a Premiership hopefully he returns to South as he is a player who should be playing SANFL footy, particularly at South Adelaide.

This probably needs to be on the "The never ending No AFL in the SANFL whinge thread". The Magpies with their additional money can snare the top administrators. They grabbed Trent Hentschel a couple of years back.
