Looked about 4000 less than last week IMHO.

Really? Interesting, I would disagree but unless we get the figure we can argue all night and it would be pointless.

As I said in Wedgie's pics thread Sports tonight had on the bottom of their scores graphic that the crowd was 9500. If its correct or not, your guess is as good as mine

Cheers guys, I must be a terrible judge. I honestly believed there was at least 11k.
Very disappointing that they couldn't get at least the figure as last week, but I think we all know the reason behind that...

Not disappointing at all,you take Port out of the finals who have a good supporter base and add the Eagles who have a poor suporter base.
Also take into account it was a 28 degree fine day last week and cold and windy today with thunder, lightning and hail ths morning and it's not rocket science as to why there was a smaller crowd this week.

All valid points, but considering these were SF's I expected a little better.
I'm not anticipating too much next week either, probably 10k. Plenty of Rooster fans as usual, but Eagles will hurt the attendance.

Crowd very much thinned out after the first game. When will the Eagles get some supporters, it's mot like they finish bottom every year.

I think the crowd was also lowered due to the funeral that was held at Football Park yesterday.

Maybe when people that live in the Eagles area don't jump on the bandwagon of another team???

There was a much bigger crowd last week. At the bar there was always a huge line, yesterday there was nothing, even though the big difference in weather may have affected this. Plus Port played last week, and the Eagles and South both have no supporters. Its pretty embarrassing.

Disagree Roostermarty,
There were plenty of North supporters on the eastern wing but over in the members and southern pocket I believe we outnumber you guys. Dont think we disgraced ourselves at all.

Agree with that. Due to the neutrals your last quater goal roar was quite sizeable. The fact you are fresh in the finals makes a difference too with a lot of South fans there due to prior starvation. A similar thing happened in 2004 and 2005 with the roosters. I thought in the 2004 1st semi North outnumbered Sturt and usually all things being equal they have a slightly larger following. If you go back to 1997 and Sturts first final for years in the elimination they outnumbered North significantly.

Members area was all South, I would have thought more South fans than North from the noise, but as I have said in previous comments I am not certain how many of them were actually South fans and how many were people there for the later game prefering to see South win. Never a correct answer for these debates.

What are the thoughts of the sanfl of asking who the attendee's are following, eg.
1) North.
2) South.
3) Neutral.
Then publish so people aren't guessing all of the time.
I'm sure it wouldn't take much more effort to find out.
Any thoughts?

I don't think they could be bothered doing this as it is really only us guys on the forums who care.
I think though that it is very difficult for anyone to judge how many of each team are there as:
1) you can't tell from looking at
well over half the supporters which team they follow as they aren't wearing anything noticeable. (Especially when you get all the bandwaggoners who only get onboard at finals time)
2) If you have say, 20 loud South supporters around you, you get a very distorted feel of the noise around the ground - it makes it appear as if there is much more South noise than what there really is.
