THE SANFL will introduce a new women’s league next season.

All eight non-AFL aligned SANFL clubs, which doesn’t include Adelaide and Port Adelaide, have been invited to enter sides in the new competition.
They have until November 11 to lodge formal applications.

The competition would be played over seven weeks in February and March and coincide with the inaugural AFL women’s competition, where the Crows will field a side.

Who will pay for this competition?
What is the budget cost in total?
Do the AFL pay up for an SA competition or is the good old SANFL(not exactly cashed up) or do clubs fund it?
I hope clubs do not,as effectively sponsors and members would effectivity be paying for it.
IMHO most clubs couldn't afford another financial liability for very such little upside.
If they can let the SANFL re introduce an real U16 or U17 competition.

AFL will fund it. Just another example of the AFL directing funds in the wrong areas.

Another reason why there won't be an AFL reserves competition anytime soon

With all the top end talent going to the AFL sides, what sort of standard is this going to be?

Probably pretty much the same as what you find at SAWFL div one level now, one would think.
It's going to come from the same talent pool - how many SA players are actually going to get picked up for the AFL?

You'd think this would have been the perfect opportunity to run it at a different time to the AFL. But Nup.

Adelaide need a squad of 24, so at least 24 I'd think. Wouldn't be many from out of SA representing Adelaide, would there?

So you could say 2-3 of the best from each of the SANFL sides.

Fair point. I don't know how the 'draft' is going to work.

It is clearly being run at the same time as the AFL girly comp so that in the future, when the girlClowns decide they need girlReserves, there will be a convenient pure competition for them to destroy.

The financial liability issue is one thing, a human resource issue is another, Most SANFL clubs are stretched to the limit getting their existing sides out every week. Being asked to provide support for another might just tip the barrow for some.

Why not put more support behind the existing SAWFL comp that has been going for years and years with volunteers working their arses off before womens footy was popular. Now these clubs are going to take the greatest hit as the SANFL takes over.

They continually stuff everything right up....

I want an outline of the perks first.
I also demand a nice dancing costume that accentuates the best parts of my 120kg frame and hides my man boobs.
Preferably I want a dance routine where I don't have to get out of a chair, cause I get too puffed moving around, and I can't do any moves that require me to balance on one leg, I reckon the bugger would snap off underneath my girth, and that wouldn't be very inspiring for the girls.
Once we sort those issues out, I reckon I'd be a big hit with the ladies. Yeah, call me the package.
