As a manager I expect more from my senior and better paid staff.
That's why I pay them more....... to deliver when it counts.

Completely agree, but it doesn't guarantee anything other than one getting paid more than the other, does it?

That's true but you tend to mark/grade your senior players a bit harder.

Again, I thought he was far from our worst yesterday, especially in the hitout contests. As usual he was beaten around the ground in marking contests and when he did get it he looked like a virgin with Cameron Diaz naked on a bed, hardly knew where to start.

As far as hitouts went I'd not be able to count the times Ah Chee and Summerton were given good delivery only to be swamped by the inside mids from Sturt.

What did you think of Ah Chee's game?
He look disinterested for 3 quarters then played well in the last quarter with those 2 goals.

Matt White was very disappointing as well.

I though Summo tried his guts out as usual but was let down by his other senior teammates.

Ah Chee was one of our best I thought, he did though have a "what if" game. As I said above he got some good delivery, got first hand on the ball and got pinged by 2 or more tacklers. Credit to Sturt, they killed us on the inside.

White, pfft, don't start me on him. I said 5 years ago we won't win a ( AFL ) premiership with people like him on our list. He was ordinary yesterday.

I think Toumpas, Snellling, Ah Chee, Atley, Summerton and Lobbe ( in no particular order ) could hold their heads up.

Young, Howard, Johnson, White, Neade, Bonner, Eddy and a lesser extent Palmer and Sharrod didn't give us much.

I would suggest to go straight up the middle.

I give Toumpas as much crap as anyone but I thought he played well yesterday.
He's one of those good SANFL players who just can't take the next step unfortunately

Neade kicks those first 2 gettable goals on the run and it may have been a different game...
An AFL listed player should have done far better than what Neade did.

What does everyone think of the free kick in the goal square to Beard?
I thought it was possibly there but could have gone either way but a mate today reckons that's a free kick every day of the week.

Thoughts?

Purely as a neutral at the game, I thought it was the right call and would have done so if I was the umpire, from up in the grandstand where was sitting, so I suppose you look at it from where you are at the time and which team you follow.
I have to agree with Booney about Eddy, he gave Magpies nothing at all, then again if the ball comes into you the way it did, you will never be able to use it.
As a South man I was hoping Eddy would be part of a premiership win, while Sturt managed to manufacture a win and go back to back, as for the game itself I never thought it rose to any great height at any stage, with the closeness of the scores being the only thing that kept it exciting.

Got to agree about the game not reaching great heights though.
There didn't appear to be much feeling out on the ground to me.

Only in the last 10 mins when Port drew close did there appear to be any excitement about the game.

I thought Beard played the situation well but no way was it a free.

Interesting that Port supporters thought it was a free but Gadj thought it wasn't.
That's what makes footy such a great game I guess.
