A STAR former local footballer has been charged with aggravated assault in relation to the incident that saw him sacked from the Willaston Football Club ahead of the Barossa, Light & Gawler season.

Josh Glenn, a former Gold Coast Suns and Central District footballer in the AFL and SANFL, respectively, was recruited by Willaston over the pre-season, having previously played at the Donnybrooks in 2016.

However, last month the club told Glenn, 24, and fellow recruit Curtis Marks – who had joined from Gumeracha this off-season – they were no longer welcome at the club after being involved in an alleged altercation at a Gawler establishment.

Police have confirmed that two men were arrested following an investigation into an alleged assault at a Gawler licensed premises just before midnight on Friday, March 2.

The victim sustained a broken nose during the incident, according to the police.

Police confirmed a 24-yearold Elizabeth Grove man and a 21-year-old Willaston man were arrested and charged with aggravated assault causing harm and both received police bail to appear in

the Elizabeth Magistrates Court on Monday, April 30.

Despite being released on bail, Glenn played in the SANFL reserves at the weekend, debuting for the Norwood Football Club.

Willaston Football Club president Kieran Sankey reiterated the club’s position that the pair was asked to leave because they’d failed to live up to the expectations the Donnybrooks have of their players.

“The players’ conduct was not up to the standards of the Willaston Football Club, as we are a community organisation,” he said.

What do Willaston expect when their nickname is 'the Donnybrooks'?? :D
Josh was just practicing to be the team mascot.

Not up to Willaston standards, but exceeds Norwoods.

Seriously, the question has to be asked of Norwood.... a player who is sacked by a Country Club because he doesn't meet the standards required to play for them, then passes muster to play for the Redlegs? It beggars belief.
I know what Centrals would have said if he asked to play again under the current circumstances.

Bump

Expect to see Seb Guilhaus in the Hills Football League soon. Been made a strong offer but is waiting to see if he will crack the league side at WWT.

They might have said yes after yesterday

We'd rather perfect citizens with limited ability.

This is from my recollections:

2011 - Centrals
2012 - Elizabeth
2013 - Centrals
2014 - Centrals
2015 - Gold Coast
2016 - Willaston
2017 - Centrals
2018 - Willaston/Norwood

From that record, you can see why Centrals might have been hesitant to take him back again after his Willaston incident.
It hurts as a supporter to see a player walk in/walk out like that. He hurt us Friday night and may do so in the future. But I'm not sure any club would welcome him back...again after such a fractious relationship. And it's not just been with the coach.
It will be interesting to see what 2019 brings.
I hope, somehow, that Josh can start getting the best out of himself consistently. An outstanding talent, who could easily win the Magarey.

Please tell. Has been playing some good football in the Eagles reserves. I think he would be on a par with Borholm or a little better at this stage of the season.

Perhaps fed up with all the speculation as to where he was going to plan in Adelaide?

I don't think Big Seb would ever get fed up of the attention being on him. ;)

Ended up at the Eagles, as predicted.

Named in the league squad for this week. Backed himself to crack the A's and looks like he may.

I seen his name on teamsheets before but don't remember seeing him in action. What sort of player is he?

Resistance is futile. There’ll be ample support for his first ohm game if he makes the current squad

Yes, there is real potential for the gound to be filled to capacitance.

I’ll relay that to his club. I would be shocked if they weren’t plugging this game having such a bright spark playing

He's okay in a single phase but never gets involved in three phases
