No sorry was more about the transfer for a returning AFL player going to a different SANFL club. $25k is the Max transfer fee I think (happy to be corrected), but depending on a players rating clubs could request less.

Surely a club doesn't have to pay a transfer fee if a player has played somewhere else in between? I thought the rule was if a player under contract or a required player wants to move between SANFL clubs then the club has to pay a transfer fee?

Danyle Pearce was on the market and I believe several clubs were interested, but weren’t prepared to pay the $25k for someone of his age.

Of course they should pay a transfer fee. You still in essence “belong” to your original club.

Rules on AFL supplementary lists can be found here:
http://sanfl.com.au/news/2018/10/02/afl ... demy-team/

With the following outlining about the Crows/Power "leadership" player and confirmation of $25k transfer fee:

Also, a player payment cap will be introduced for the AFC and PAFC in line with the other SANFL clubs, consisting of:
- Match payments at a maximum of $400 per League match.
- An upfront/base payment maximum (per individual) of $4,000.
- Total upfront/base payments (collective) of not more than $20,000.
- In addition, the Leadership Player can only be paid a maximum upfront/ base payment of $20,000 and match payments of $500 per match. If the player was drafted from a SANFL Club prior to his AFL listing, there will also be a transfer fee payable to the SANFL Club in the sum of $25,000, as is the case if the player were to play for any other SANFL Club.

As previously mentioned Cam Sutcliffe will be the magpies marquee player. How could the Eagles compete, a good contract PLUS job in the football department. WHY DO THE magpies (also the crows) NEED A MARQUEE PLAYER? If so, why don't they make a delisted power player their marquee player instead of robbing local SANFL clubs of their original juniors. I thought the SANfl was there to protect the local SANFL clubs, not bow and scrape to the parasitic AFL offsprings. Only good thing...another $25,000 to the Eagles.

Not sure about that.

Announcement shortly.

If you are referring to a transfer fee - which hasn’t been confirmed as yet - this can be paid outside of any restricted cap you speak of. A generous SA member is able to put funds up to recruit a good player.

Hate seeing former players lining up against their original club when coming back from the AFL but that is the reality of the situation. With three ex-WWT players getting delisted from their AFL clubs in the same year it was always going to be difficult, if not impossible, to entice them all back to the club due to a lack of $$. Just bad timing.

Karpany will be a very good player for South so good luck to him.

Aside from West and Centrals (I think), it looks like the rest of the clubs have managed to sign an ex-AFL player who are all likely to make a reasonable impact next year. Its a good boost for the SANFL competition.

West did sign former Hawthorn player, Dallas Willsmore, 23 year old, 191 cm wingman/half back, played a few games for Hawthorn in 2017. Hopefully will make an impact on the competition

... and Central have signed Troy Menzel, so all clubs have a former AFL player newly signed for next season.
Cheers
P.S. More news to come from the Ponderosa.

I don't think North have signed an ex AFL player as yet. In fact I haven't heard of any North recruits as yet. Surely there must be some to come.

Whilst the Club hasnt announced it, the local newspaper has... 3 Neagle Brothers, son of the late Merv and brother of Jay have signed with the Dogs. Matt at 23 is the eldest and had 7 AFL recruiters asking after him before suffering a compound arm fracture in August.
The Dogs were one of several Clubs trying to entice the lads over.
