Hooray SANFL for listening to the ordinary and potential followers of the game.
A good start.
Next please fix the absurd 18 games in 23 weeks please?
Or is that a bridge too far?

A bit of coverage about the magoos players pushing for senior selection from all the sides would be good.

Life have been SANFL broadcasters since 2002 even getting in one game last year when the Eagles brought them in to broadcast their Eagles Community Carnival Day.

The station will be broadcasting a game every week through the season and also plans to cover the state game and all finals. Radio veteran Doug Oakley will head the commentary team.

In addition the station will introduce SANFL ONE, a one hour pre-game show and 30 minute post game wrap, hosted by myself, meaning each game day broadcast will go for 4 hours.

Life's 1st game will be the Easter Monday clash between Norwood and Sturt at Coopers Stadium, SANFL One will start at 2pm with first bounce 3.10pm.

Great effort PHIL and to hats of to Life FM.

Excellent news.

I urge people to listen in and, if possible, support the sponsors and show them people are still interested in the SANFL.

Great news Phil. I will definitely be listening.

The pre game show should include:

1. A preview of all the games for that weekend
2. A wrap of any games already played for the weekend including listing best players goal kickers ect
3. Interview with players or coaches
4. Mention the ladder and what each result means for the top 5
5. If you want interaction with the fans you could do an SANFL quiz and get people to call in or if you are live at the ground get them to join you behind the mic.

Have a “club of the week”. Promote that clubs membership benefits, bistro specials, happy hours, merchandise for sale, kids activities etc.
It really does need to be promoted as an alternative to the AFL - cheaper admission, more family friendly, have a kick on the ground at qtr & 3qtr time.
Plenty to spruik about IMO.

An "Under 21" segment, players who are either under 21 years of age or under 21 games played that we should be keeping an eye on.

Get Century 21 on board.

How about a swear jar - a gold coin deposit for any mention of the AFL. :D

Seriously though, well done to all concerned for getting our SANFL back on the radio airwaves.

Well done Phil, I suspect you have driven this hard with little support from the league itself.

Meanwhile 17 days until first match and nothing on the digital pass.....

Good point. You could roll out the digital pass in the odd trial game to get rid of bugs in the system and have commentators get familiar with players. It could add a bit of interest into the comp.

Thanks for the kind words Dutchy but for the record I have not done much recently.

My job was getting Life FM involved in calling the Eagles v Crows, Community Carnival Game last August, took a bit of wrangling at the time but it happened.

Thankfully after that, I think everyone realised radio coverage was imperative and the two parties got talking.

Very very relieved .... next challenge now is to deliver a good show around the game.

If they are going to sell it surely now is the time to get subscriptions? or will they announce it 3 days before Good Friday only for it to crash on game day?

Maybe, hopefully they are going to provide a full streaming service for free. Its the only reasonable explanation for the not to have announced it yet,

Or they've simply flat-out forgotten.
