ST 26 frees

The result was close, so did the umps have any sort of influence on the result ?

That certainly looked a mark to McAdam late in the match.

Was 6 nil and 2 25m penalties early, the umps thought that was enough to get their team over the line as we all know how imprtant momentum is. They failed. Shows how shit they are.

 Have a whinge Wedgie.

Spargo: I mentioned in my post earlier that it looked a real screamer, and from our position about 250 meters away, it looked like he took it, the whole hill went up.
Without having seen the footage, could you posit a theory as to why it wasn't paid? My only guess is that the ball spilled when he hit the ground and perhaps the ump thought he didn't have enough of it?

Or maybe the umps wanted to do a bit more to North over the line hey Wedgie? ;)

I was saying the umps were shit, not Sturt.
But whatever floats your boat.

I wouldn't have given a shit if North won or lost by 100 points or if they're top or bottom.

Surely that would depend on where the free kicks were given and what advantage the team got by getting the free
And it’s not like there is any bias on behalf of the supporters. I’m totally neutral and the umpires were a disgrace. They very nearly got Sturt over the line.

;)

That’s the only reason it couldn’t have been paid IMO.

I was down towards the end that McAdam flew. What you don't see from the vision is that he dropped the ball at the top of his fly, grabbed at again as he and the ball are hitting the ground and the ball then rolled out. The tv vision of that is obscured by number 26, Wilkie. I have seen efforts like that paid and also not paid. I had a similar view to the umpire . McAdam certainly thought that it was a mark given his reaction.

There was another one that puzzled us in the second quarter that cost North a certain goal. Hender marked the ball in the goal square in front of his opponent yet got done for blocking. From where we were it seemed a clear mark with no interference but we were a long way away.

The first quarter and the last few minutes of the game the umpiring was diabolically one sided against North but in the end I don't know that they affected the result. It wasn't the frees Sturt were getting as much as the ones North weren't getting that was upsetting the North supporters so much. I have never seen so many happy North supporters so roundly boo the umpires as they left the ground.

The Hender free was a poor decision. He was in front so how he was called for blocking ??

Oh, I must have read the bit about the umps failing to get their team over the line a little differently to how you intended it when you wrote it then.
My mistake.

Yeah, I saw the double grab, we were unsighted when the player hit the ground. I guessed it must have rolled loose on impact. I agree with your assessment that sometimes those are paid and sometimes not. On a wet day however...
I saw the one in the goal square not paid to North. Again, I assumed there was something the umps saw that I had missed.
Anyway, it wasn't enough to get Sturt over the line in the end.

Wouldn't have thought so.
North's pressure was certainly far better than ours and it proved that it wasn't just West having a bad day the week before. I can see North going far this year based on last Sunday's game

North's pressure was good, but I thought we more than matched them there.
Where the game was won IMO was North's execution was better, and they more often had running support than we did. Sturt at times just made the wrong decision with disposal, or executed it poorly, whereas I thought North's turnovers were more often forced than otherwise.
I still haven't seen a replay so I might have it wrong, but I reckon it is more important to have a close look at a loss than gloat over a win, so very happy to hear your thoughts ORDB.
