That was only our 14th win at Alberton in 108 years of footy there but it was comfortably our biggest. Our previous best was 41 points in 1939.

Our first win there since R14 2011 (think Channel 7 said about 10 years but I think they were probably thinking of R3 2008 when we won there for the first time since R2 2003).

I think we need to record these scores for posterity:

Port 6: 7: 43
South 17: 15: 117
I'm gonna sit back, crack the top off a Pale Ale, and watch the Double Blues prevail
1915, 1919, 1926, 1932, 1940, 1966, 1967, 1968, 1969, 1970, 1974, 1976, 2002, 2016, 2017

Hey! Nice stat!
Let's go Q by Q analysis.
Port 0:0 - 3:4 - 5:5 - 6:7: 43
South 3:5 - 4:10 - 10:11 - 17:15: 117
South very inaccurate early. Should have won by 100.

A great day at Alberton against the "one clubs".

We a building a really nice side of experience and youth at present.

Fields, Davis, Liddle, Brooksby, Cross all helped by our youth - Sampson (this kid can play!), Kappler (who Neade hated being tagged by) , Fitt, Szust and Kreuger.

Port looked slow, uninterested, frustrated and playing with no real urgency at all. You would think a few players in the side today will be their last year with the club. Body language by some players in that side really poor.
Players (Thomas, Neade) showing their frustration by hitting young kids (17 year old Kappler, Haines) behind the play .....would not suprise me if Thomas gets a few games for his hit on Kappler.
Seriously, some of these guys need to give it up as they are really embarrassing themselves.

Trengove, Snelling, Summerton best for Port.

Was thinking the same during the telecast Scott, recall a win there under Fuller with Wundke and Rolfe kicking a few goals. Although all games v Port since 2014 need an asterisk next to them, it's nice to set a new record I suppose.

Pleasing to secure a finals spot. Young Sampson did some nice things on debut, while we look more potent when Fitt and Krueger are hitting the scoreboard as has been the case the past fortnight.

4/4 against the interlopers has been important this season, as they have typically been a thorn in our side.

1474 the meagre crowd.

Didn't think we were much of a show for finals this year so huge credit to Wright and the coaching staff. The addition of some talented juniors has been encouraging.

From our injury list;

Sam Overall, Foot, 2 weeks

Wasn't he listed as season a couple of weeks ago? Would be a good boost to our forward stocks
Hi, My name is Ron 'Bluey' Dunn. Did you know I played in the 61 & 62 Tasman Premiership sides....

I thought so too. That'd be great if we can get him back and ready for finals. Hearing Rose isn't too far away as well.

That was only Port's third scoreless first quarter ever at Alberton and first since 1991. Good for us to give something back after so many decades of pain out there. :D

Rose, Biemans, Overall all set for a return soon in a few weeks.

Would be great for finals but would be unlucky for the few that miss out. All players doing their bit ATM. ;)

Probably not enough in it for a sighting/suspension IMO, but a fairly typical cheap shot by Thomas.

Fingers crossed Rose, Overall and Biemans can get some match practice leading into finals. Would be a nice to have a fit squad when it comes to the business end of the season, seem to recall missing a few troops late in 2016.

A fit Overall is crucial to the Panthers chances of advancing in finals I reckon.

Pretty harsh mate. Let's kill off your club and replace with a plastic second side and see if you hang around for so the bulshit.
